I'll be honest with you, I love eastern European food because much of it is dense and filling and very comforting, and that's why I wanted to eat here. I was not disappointed. The place itself is in an unassuming side street, sheltered from the...More

So we only popped in for a drink, 3 beers and vodkas later we were the last ones to leave. Excellent staff, amazing drinks, wasn't a vodka drinker until last night. The decor is fantastic, felt so authentically Polish, you forget you're in Digbeth. Will...More

Let me start from what was good. Very friendly staff and the restaurant looks just incredible. Food was ok, nothing good, nothing bad, but a bit overpriced for what we get.

Found this restaurant by chance, what a fantastic place. I felt I was on holiday. The food was excellent, staff were very friendly and service was great. A must on a trip to Birmingham. We will be back.

Nice atmosphere, unlike anything I've seen before. The dishes are so big we had to ask for takeaway boxes - so you're not getting ripped off with bull**** little 'gourmet' portions. Also great vodka, but don't overestimate yourself if you're not a drinker. Fantastic experience...More

several of us popped in to try this the other day and we were not disappointed. really enjoyed the food, which were very generous portions and super tasty. Also loved the beer which had a good taste but not overpowering.

If you're hungry this is THE PLACE. This a great place to eat (especially on a cold, wet winter's evening) but even in the spring its friendly staff and decor, reminiscent of a wooden bunkhouse with sheepskin lined wooden benches and chairs, create a warm...More

Went as part of a large group, loved the decor and atmosphere. The beers were great- served in traditional jugs, whilst soups and beef stew on pancake were highlights- along with the mead and polish vodka of course. Everyone left very full and very happy.

Polish food is not for the faint-hearted, I get it, but why perpetuate the image of Eastern European food that is heavy, made of what seemed to be cheap ingredients and completely lacking in any healthy food awareness? I didn't expect finesse, just good quality...More

Excellent polish cooking. A beetroot soup almost like a consomme, flavoured with apple. Zurek w Chlebku - rye soup, served in hollowed out bread - was delicious. Main courses similarly high standard. A very good meal, but seriously filling.

Description
The Karczma is a traditional Polish restaurant, bar and grill located in the heart of Birmingham, just 5min walk from both the Bull Ring Shopping Centre and Moor Street Rail Station.

Restaurant is decorated in the style of an old Polish country cottage seating 85 people across 2 rooms.

The menu is designed to reflect a homely, hearty and rustic food that's quintessentially Polish, and prepared using only the very best quality ingredients.

The menu contains numerous Polish classics including Pierogi (stuffed dumplings), Berszcz (Beetroot soup), Pickled Herring, Zurek (Pickled Rye Flour Soup) served from a hollowed out loaf of bread, as well as a whole host of grilled meats and fish.

We wish you a pleasant stay and Enjoy !!!
