I booked this restaurant for my husbands Birthday. We arrived a little early but was told our table was ready, so a good start. We were taken to our table upstairs and I was so disappointed, I had asked for a nice table and tbh...it was probably the worst it could be shoved at the back against the wall in a very green, dark and claustrophobic room. I thought of saying something but my husband said its ok. We ordered drinks and my sauvignon came not particularly cold🤔 but it was pleasant enough. We ordered starters of soup and wings. Both nice enough. We had a little wait for the mains which I always like after a starter. The mains arrived my husband had the rib eye with stilton cream and I chose the lamb dish. My husband enjoyed his steak dish but I cannot say the same for my lamb. The whole dish was overpowered by the confit garlic which tasted bitter and just awful. It was hunt the lamb and most of it was so chewy despite ordering it pink. Nothing on the plate sang it was honestly the worst restaurant meal I have had in years and we dine out regularly. I would have said something early in the meal but it was my husbands Birthday and I did not want to ruin the evening. The waitess asked at the end was everything ok as I had left a fair bit on my plate I explained and she was very nice and came back and offered us a drink on the house. Aside from the food issue the upstairs room was so hot, they should have put the aircon on low. I actually couldn't wait to get out of there for some fresh air. Would I return to Loxleys I doubt it as there were far too many things I was disappointed in. The service was fine, the room too hot and way too dark and my lamb dish a disaster and I love lamb😏More
