Well where to begin, we entered the tavern and it was packed (good sign) went to where it says wait to be seated and as soon as we got there the man behind the bar greeted us with a pleasant smile and a warm welcome. He asked us where we would like to sit as there were a couple of... More

Went in here by chance, it was on our way when leaving town, close to the centre and to the train station. The staff were quite nice, they took our order fast and brought it quite fast. The food itself is tasty, though a bit on the heavy side (they seemed to use too much heavy sauce on what we... More

I live locally and have been using this place for about 30 years. Today I went in with a ruck sack with my camera equipment in, and was immediately challenged by the bar man, who must have been there about 15 years as to if I wanted a drink or just to use the lavatory. Totally unacceptable, rude and would... More

I was eager to come and visit this pub after finding out it was the oldest in Stratford Upon Avon. It's quite small and doesn't have a lot of seating but it's very archaic and pretty. It has a lovely traditional feel and the staff were very polite. They have a small bar area and a small restaurant area with... More

We had a lunch here recently. From the outside the building is quaint, a typical black & white thatched pub in town. Because of this it attracts people looking for a slice of Old England. Once inside it becomes a run of the mill pub with typical pub fare. We had the beef lasagne and the cottage pie with a... More

A pub which has plenty of character, old and well worn, like a comfy pair of slippers. My wife had the turkey roast of the day and she declared it a winner. I had the sirloin and it was truly excellent. Also the staff were great, friendly and helpful. Highly recommended

Third time back to the Thatch now for food. Love their homemade pie, veg and gravy. Its proper, honest, decent home cooked pub grub. The staff are friendly and welcoming and its a great little place, full of character. Last night we had home made rhubarb crumble with custard for desert. Its refreshing not to have something pre-prepared as a... More

Interesting historic pub. Restaurant section a little basic but the food was excellent. Steak, chips and onion rings and it was a real plateful! Service good if a little distracted, It seemed very understaffed with just the two people doing their very best to cover both the busy bar and a full restaurant.

We popped in at dinner time on a Friday night and were given a very nice welcome from other patrons at the bar. Had a lovely table in a small dining area. Children's menu was the usual (uninspiring) chicken nuggets and chips type offering, however the main menu was quite reasonable. Our starter of mushroom soup was absolutely packed full... More
