This pub at the bottom of gosforth is the perfect place to spend any afternoon. Dogs welcome, 12 cask ales, 2 cask ciders and a variety of wine means it's perfect for everyone. The staff were all polite and really helpful. The food looked incredible and everyone said how lovely it was. They have great music and live bands frequently.... More

Great choice of real ales but whilst waiting about thirty minutes for friends to arrive was really surprised that one couple had dog sitting on seat next to them and a man that stood at bar was allowed to have his dog bark so much and so loudly that he (eventually) took it outside, only to return a couple of... I like this pub. A lot. But, the last time we went (Wednesday pie night) the food was below par. The cheese and onion pie just didn't have much cheese flap our (we've had it before and it was lush) and the burger was ok. But just ok, as opposed to brill on previous visits. Staff were friendly as usual... More

Senerio.....arrived at the pub at 7.00pm on New Years Eve, went ouside to make a call at 11.45pm, went back to the bar at 11.50pm to find my drink on the bar gone, asked if I could order another drink but told by a new member of staff that I couldn't. Having spent £120 on drinks for myself, a friend... More

Called in for lunch after a decent walk. We were hungry and ordered the pie and chips. The pies are from a local supplier. I think it is Northumbrian Farm. The pies were delicious with lovely light pastry and the chips were proper chips although rather slim not chunky. The whole meal was very tasty. Not for those who do... More

while there is an excellent choice of drinks and our dog was made to feel very welcome, i feel that the food was not very good, greasy chips and overpriced. Pub is very dark and cold feeling.

Went with friends for lunch and what came was reasonable but nothing special. The chilli burger was supposed to be 24 hour cooked chilli but tasted bland. Worryingly they had run out of mash by 2pm, given we waited 45 minutes for the food I would have expected them to be able to make new during the day. Not the... More
