first visit to olive and bean, looked tidy so walked in to see a fridge full of tempting delicacies, the first waiter to greet us said 'are you taking out?' the place did have seating available, I said we preferred to eat in thanks and was offered two window seats or upstairs, when I opted for upstairs the waiter walked... First time visiting and left feeling it wasn't the best experience. It was a busy Saturday and very crowded. No way of knowing if I should hang around for a table to get a seat, ask a member of staff or form a queue so it was quite disjointed. The staff were really friendly and endeavoured to get a different... More

A nice stop for coffee/tea and a cake. Staff were helpful although I was covered in sugar when our table was cleaned. We had a chocolate brownie with our teas, which was nice. Seems a popular place with students, which perhaps explains the laid back atmosphere. I was reliably informed that although the lady's toilet was 'pretty' it wasn't very... More

I've been coming to Olive and Bean for quite a while now and, as well as the relaxing atmosphere, good service and lovely treats (malteaser cake that could prop your door open), I have found that Olive and Bean do what may well be the best coronation chicken sandwich in Newcastle, maybe even the world. I absolutely LOVE coronation chicken,... More

We called in here on the morning of Friday 30 December. We ordered avocado, poached eggs & sourdough toast. Two slices of toast, two eggs and half an avocado. We couldn't fault it and I'm picky. We saw couples who had eggs benedict and they looked great. The service was excellent although we don't like having to go to the... More

Always popping in here for brunch and think its a fab little café. Eggs benedict and bacon with cream cheese bagel are lovely, but wasn't a fan of the continental breakfast on my last visit. Nothing was warm and didn't find it as tasty as other things I've still tried, also drinks arrived after food which was annoying but will... More

I always go here for a coffee and/or food when meeting friends. It's just near the monument and has two floors and outside seating. The menu choice is incredible, there are pages of food items to choose from and everything is freshly made. I have been at least 10-15 times and the food has always been amazing, the drinks delicious... More

Thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast. Bacon sandwich, scrambled eggs on toast and eggs benedict (pictured) all very nice.
