Went here for dinner after a long day in the office with two colleagues. I had tried a number of places prior to get a table but other than after 9pm everywhere was busy. My colleague got this booking and it was very quiet when we went it. The staff were attentive and professional. They had a set fixed price... More

Excellent food and service. Enjoyed an early evening meal before a concert and it was prepared and presented with care. The staff were lovely and we'll be back.

We have eaten at Caffe Vivo before so decided to go there for a friend's birthday. We ate from the early evening fixed price menu where the choice is not large. The birthday girl chose the pheasant which is often difficult to get right and this time was slightly overcooked. The highlights were the puddings which were excellent. The restaurant... More

My son and I had a flying visit to Newcastle. Stumbled upon Cafe Vivo (after a few cocktails nearby). Service was excellent and friendly and the restaurant had a lovely authentic Italian atmosphere. Went for the Set Meal, which was good value. Starters lovely. Duck pasta delicious and the Beef tender - but sadly the Polenta had turned into rubber... More

Tried the restaurant last night as part of a present. I had a lasagne whilst the other two in the party had the lamb. The lasagne was dried out as if it had been kept warm for far to long and we certainly not fresh. It lacked taste and was poorly structured. The lamb looked nicer but was quite fatty... More

Seen other reviews and some are great, others awful! So what's going wrong? Our visit was excellent for both quality, service (the lovely Emma) and value for money. On the basis of our visit, would highly recommend it but management need to establish why such varying reviews prevail.

On a business trip, eating lunch alone. The crew was really nice and good service! But the food was off. The salmon entree was almost frozen so I ate half, the truffle tagliatelle was overcooked and sticky so very heavy to eat... and I was so looking forward to a nice fresh pasta. The staff served an extra glass of... More

Visited the restaurant 7/1/2017 with my husband, son and his partner for a birthday celebration. We all agreed the meal was very disappointing. Unfortunately myself and my sons partner both developed severe stomach pains through the night and I spent the following day in bed. Contacted the restaurant, eventually two days later got to speak to the company director. He took... More

We use Newcastle's Restaurant Week to choose and eat in places we don't usually frequent. Caffe Vivo accommodated our change from 2 diners to 4 with ease yet it was very busy. Ambience good- very busy with mixed age clientele- babies to 80yr olds! Mt starter risotto with wild mushrooms was delicious; cod was fine but small main course- one... More

I regularly visit this restaurant and have always had great, fresh food and good service. If you visit before 7(I think) there is a good value set menu or an a la carte choice. The food is high quality on both, with a good choice and seasonal changes.
