Without going in to too much detail I thought the food and service were both poor. The salmon dish was ok, but we intended on having 3 courses and only had 2. The staff failed to clear an entire (large) table nearby, left a straw...More

Newcastle is the fun city of the north so we thought that finding a tranquil and good restaurant suitable to entertain our friends on a visit from Edinburgh would be a difficult task. Not so, the Bridge Restaurant at the Vermont Hotel ticked every box....More

Went here on Vday and it was a last minute booking. Surprisingly it was very empty on the day given its Vday. Service was superb, good was great and atmosphere was so romantic. Food r reasonably priced. Will be back again

We went here on a Sunday evening for dinner as we had the Tastecard with 2 for 1 on all courses. While the service was impeccable the food sadly wasn't. The starters weren't special at all, some sort of vegetable panna cota that had nice...More

The night we ate here there had been a fire on a lower floor and the hotel had been evacuated. We were not sure what the service would be like as we had been informed that the gas had been turned off and it had...More

  • This restaurant is at The Vermont Hotel
Tyne and dine at Newcastles Bridge Restaurant, with its spectacular views over the River Tyne and the soaring arc of the Tyne Bridge. The restaurant is in the Vermont Hotel, a Manhattan-style 1930s tower right next to the remains of the citys medieval castle and close to the revitalised Quayside area. Start with marinated herring with crisp pancetta and honey-mustard vinaigrette or the more substantial confit duck and red onion tart tatin. Then dig in to baked lamp rump with minted lentils and garlic potatoes, or pan-seared wild salmon, braised spring cabbage and clam casserole. You may think youll be able to resist the milk chocolate crme brle with Baileys ice-cream, but thats only because youll fall for the steamed lemon sponge with vanilla crme frache instead.
