We had lunch at the Sorrel Horse today. My steak pie (short crust) was divine and my friends fish and chips fantastic. We both ate the sticky toffee pudding for dessert which had a great texture with the right amount of sweetness in the toffee...More

We first went to The Sorrel in 1991 - this was our first revisit since - even better now than before. Still got the same old school pub vibe (not knocked through into one long bar - which kills off any cosiness) and fantastic food...More

Lovely meal beautifully presented , tasty and hearty. Great to see the original features have not been lost in the old bar but there's a restaurant area if you'd prefer with a large log burner. Friendly staff . Great service. Would recommend

We chose this venue for our after race lunch and were not disappointed. The food was great, the choice of drinks was great and the staff were great. The room was nice and warm and cosy too. Twenty very happy diners. We will be back.

Description
Reputedly a Smugglers Inn dating back to the 15th century, The Sorrel Horse is the quintessential English country pub with tap drawn cask ales, a thatched roof, tiled floors and an original bar billiards table, nestled in a picturesque rural Suffolk village. Given our fantastic location on the Bawdsey Peninsula in glorious countryside, the pub is especially attractive to walkers, cyclists and the horse fraternity. Superb walks, open rolling countryside and the quiet and genteel nature of the area make the village a popular destination for visitors. With two bars you've a choice of both a restaurant or traditional bar for your food and drinks. The restaurant has a large wood burner, with the bar having a lovely open fire.
