Last time we visited Aldeburgh we were unable to get into this busy restaurant. So we booked in advance this time. It was a good decision. Any restaurant that is fully booked on a cold wet Sunday in March must be satisfying its customers. It certainly satisfied us. The decor is simple, but in the evening the wooden tables are... More

I booked The Lighthouse based on these reviews and also that they offered flexibility on their website. We had a meal for 11 on Saturday 18th March - with 4 vegetarians and a last minute vegan - I had notified the restaurant in advance so that they didn't all have to eat the same thing but was not expecting a... Had lunch here last week with my sister-in-law. Welcome was very good as was the rest of the service. Food was excellent. I ate their fish soup - which was Bouillabaisse in all but name and was served with garlic croutons and rouille - from the a la carte menu. For main I had brown shrimp risotto served with scallops... I thought I had booked a table for lunch, but on arrival, it was clear I had not followed all the steps on the booking page - don't make the same mistake! Sam handled the situation very nicely and luckily there was a table for two available. Polite staff, excellent food choices and a nice interior. We ate olives with... More

Loved this place, good atmosphere, always seems busy. Very well cooked food, good range of gluten free available, even GF dessert instead of the usual of just ice cream. Nothing seemed to much bother, very clean. Will be on the list to go back to.

Lovely restaurant with good food, an interesting menu and very good staff who are particularly good at dealing with allergies. Go if you can. Very busy at weekends and you need to book.

We visited this restaurant on my husband's birthday on 10th March. We had a delicious meal and the staff could not be more welcoming. We enjoyed the meal so much that we returned on 15th March for my birthday meal and again had a fabulous meal. Quite simply - good tasty food beautifully cooked and presented coupled with friendly knowledgeable... More

Our son was celebrating his birthday and asked us to join him, his wife and identical twin daughters for an afternoon out on the Suffolk coast and a meal,out....he wanted to eat at lunch time but his chosen place was fully booked so a table was booked for 18:30.....I have to say....sorry....we had never heard of this restaurant and so... Description
Sam and the team at The Lighthouse restaurant welcome every customer into a relaxed atmosphere which instantly makes you feel at home. With three different eating locations, downstairs, upstairs and the courtyard, The Lighthouse offers a 'Sleepy Suffolk' approach to eating out, with you dictating the pace of your evening.

The Lighthouse chefs work tirelessly to continue to produce mouth-watering dishes for the A la carte menus and, the lunch & pre-cinema menu. With the creations of the dishes, Head Chef Guy Welsh ensures that the ingredients for all his dishes are as local as possible, with much of the fish coming right off the beach in Aldeburgh, our duck coming from Norfolk based Gressinghams, Five Winds butchers in Melton for our juicy steaks and local salad leaves from Sue Allen in Thorpeness. To round off the perfect evening, The Lighthouse offers a wide selection of tempting wines and local Adnams beers to compliment all of our dishes.
