We stopped for lunch and ordered a scone with cream and jam and pot of tea x 2. Cost £9.40. It was wet but not raining and quite warm so they provide cushions for chairs outside. The service was prompt and the food a good standard we are looking forward to another trip to Wells to visit this place again.

Visited here as we always do as the grounds are magnificent. Thought we would try the coffee shop but with dubious trepidation after visiting here before we thought it may have improved but sadly not i ordered a cappuccino an early grey tea and went for the cakes as the pastries muffins and scones were all uncovered and th3 flies... Dear Adulcabella, Thank you for taking the time to bring these issues to our attention. It is our policy not to pass drinks over the counter, which is why we bring any hot drinks to the table. However, I will have a look into whether this policy is being implemented at all times. All of the staff members at The... More

Dear gayleforce2006, I’m very sorry that you did not enjoy your experience to the fullest. Unfortunately background noises are out of our control, and are part of the day to day activity in a cafe. On a nice day you can always come and sit outside, it is much quieter and more peaceful there, and you can enjoy the lovely... More

The Bishops Table is in the grounds of the Bishop's Palace, and serves light meals as well as a good range of home made cakes. If the weather's nice you can sit outside and enjoy an unequalled view. Prices are acceptable (you are getting the best views in town) and the cakes seemed fresh. the only odd thing was the... More

Dear MKMapman, thank you for taking the time to write us such a fantastic review! The rationale behind us bringing the drinks to the table, is that during our busy periods when there may be a slight wait for drinks to be made, it is nice for our customers to go and get settled down while we make the hot... Sat outside in the sunshine eating a marvellous chocolate fudge cake. Good variety of food, cake and drinks to choose from. Whilst eating the bells were being rung which was a beautiful bonus to a delightful afternoon

I had a pot of tea here last Friday. The tea was good but the crockery wasn't! BIG and heavy mug. I am old-fashioned I suppose but afternoon tea should be in a china cup, with a saucer. If they have a pretty pattern so much the better. The cakes looked good but I did not try so I cannot... More

We visited here for the first time with American friends for a cream tea - a first cream tea for them. Thank goodness the scones were fresh and excellent. Gorgeous sitting out area overlooking the Bishop's Palace - the gardens are well worth a visit too.

My husband requested decaffeinated coffee here a couple of weeks ago and unfortunately did not get it. He was quite unwell for 24 hours ( he is fit , running 2/3 hours 3 times a week) I have yet to receive a response to my complaint, hence writing this. It is a lovely setting and I have enjoyed food &... More

Best place for tea sandwiches and cake in Wells. Nice choice of sandwiches and all GF! We go there often and have never been disappointed. You can sit inside or out in its stunning setting. The service is friendly and pleasant. Nice teahut!
