Ther were eight of us in our group and we were all very pleased with our meals. The portions were adequate, the food tasty and nicely presented. We thought it was good value for money, and the anniversary couple were delighted. The restaurant itself lacked atmosphere unfortunately, and the decor didn't seem to have a theme. But the service was good... More

This place has had some mixed reviews after a recent change of hands - so we wanted to try it again after the new owners had settled in. We had a really good lunch here: Well prepared food using fresh ingredients. My fish was perfectly cooked and there were some very nice touches - home made tartar sauce, home made... More

We're glad you enjoyed your stay at Dunster Castle Hotel, Sir. If you're here next time on a Sunday just mention you'd like something from the main menu and we'd oblige. We don't mention it unless you do as chefs can get a little flustered if half of customers are off the main menu, but for a few requests we'd... More

what a very pleasant place the Dunster Hotel is. We were meeting up with friends that we hadn't seen for a while, so wanted somewhere to eat where we could catch up with news over a decent meal. This restaurant delivered in every respect from the moment we arrived. The staff were brilliant, nothing was too much trouble and they... More

A lovely review, Mistytor. It's so encouraging for the team when we have such nice reviews. Since we cook everything* from scratch in our kitchen, we see no reason why we cannot tailor our meals to suit, where possible. your assessment of our style is spot on. We like to put a modern twist on tradition - from our décor... More

We have recently returned from a 4 night stay in the village of Dunster. The welcome you receive at The Dunster Castle Hotel, is very warming and friendly. We ate there 3 times, sampling both there lunchtime and evening meal menu's. All the meals were cooked and presented in an excellent standard. There is a good choice of dishes, with... More

Praise indeed, Thank you, Sir. We're slowly getting around all the fantastic eateries in Dunster ourselves and we all keep each other on our toes, and rightly so. I think Dunster is becoming THE place in Somerset to eat great food and we'd like to think we can be part of the story. We also agree, Sam is a great... More

The hotel has been recently taken over and the new owners have updated the exterior and the restaurant. We went in for a meal at 6pm on a Friday. We didnt book but were quite early. The restaurant was quite busy by 7pm. The service from the moment we arrived was excellent - so welcoming. The food was really good.... More

Hi Sueee. It really is great to hear such fantastic feedback. Since taking over in May we've spent a lot of time ensuring that we can offer the best food in comfortable surroundings, and looked after by helpful and friendly staff. We have to admit, one of our favourite dishes is the scotch egg. Our head chef Lauren is incredibly... More

We ate here twice during our stay - the staff were very accommodating and friendly, and quite happy that we didn't have the conventional set of courses. Particularly scrumptious brioche and butter pudding with orange! We came back for more only to find that two staff members were off sick and they were only opening to residents, but they let... Our 3 day visit was so relaxing and we were made to feel so welcome. The new owners John and Lisa are really trying hard to bring this hotel to a modern vibrant standard. Our room was lovely, clean and modern with homely touches. Breakfast is from 7-11am and a good choose from fresh fruit to a full English. We... More

We just popped into this lovely place for a drink whilst waiting for our taxi. Lovely bar and restaurant and the owners were great hosts. Had a lovely chat with the lady owner and bar staff. We will be back again to try the food on our next holiday.

We were taken to Dunster on a mystery trip, so had no chance to check out where would be good to eat. A local shp assistant said the people in the Castle Hotel were new but had a good reputation, so we tried it. The place was welcoming, with a good feel as we walked in. The menu was varied... More
