Very disappointed by the vegetarian options - only option was a goats cheese salad - who wants that for a main evening meal. Non vegetarian options looked great. Service poor too - very slow & had to be chased up for everything . Won't return .

My wife and I met a friend in Bath recently and booked a return visit to this excellent restaurant for lunch. We had booked in advance and were told on arrival that the restaurant was fully booked so glad we had! We were shown to our table and offered menus and a drink promptly. We chose from the set menu... Compliments to the Chef for satisfying 7 critical women with gorgeous food!! The starters were delicious and beautifully presented and the main (6 turkey and one duck) absolutely divine. The waiting staff knew exactly who had which (pre-ordered) dish and were very pleasant, polite and helpful, everything went to and from the table at the right moment. All in all... More

We went for a family meal when spending a weekend in bath. The food was delicious, we tend to be a fairly hard to please bunch but none of us could fault anything. The starters (crab and terrine in particular) were so delicious and the mains (risotto, market fish - plaice and the sausage and mash) were a huge hit.... More

We visited with friends on Saturday night having read previous reviews. We were not disappointed as the meal was fantastic in particular the duck fat chips! It is a very busy restaurant especially as the Christmas market is on that said we weren't rushed and the service was absolutely excellent. I also think considering we had aperitifs, wine with the... Excellent service and food. It was a must to have deserts after the beef or lamb. A new highly recommend place to enjoy time with the family or friends.

I recently had lunch here, I picked this venue because of it's reviews on TripAdvisor and I wasn't disappointed. I had booked a table well in advance of my trip to Bath and it was just as well as the restaurant was fully booked for this particular day. I was with 2 other friends and we arrived a little early... We went to Clayton'S Kitchen and got there just after a 10 handed Xmas party who had obviously been drinking for a while. To say they were loud and obnoxious is putting it mildly. However the staff were brilliant. It was not their fault but they provided complimentary prosseco and looked after us throughout. The food was excellent. All tasty... More

We were treated to a meal by our daughter for our Golden Wedding anniversary. The food, as always was excellent. We mention our anniversary to our excellent waitress - Laura and to our surprise our sweet was served on a sharing plate with the words 'Happy Anniversary' written in chocolate. It is little touches like that that make this place... More

We made a bee line for this restaurant as we had eaten here a couple of years previously. The second visit totally lived up to the first - excellent friendly service and delicious tasting food. So glad we pre-booked as they were having to turn people away. Can't wait for a third visit! Make sure you save room for a... More

Open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner, Clayton's Kitchen at The Porter, is the culinary home to The Porter's resident chef Rob Clayton. Rob has previously gained a Michelin star at Hunstrete House and another at Bath Priory. Delicious seasonal dishes using the freshest quality ingredients are the inspiration for Rob's menus. This, coupled with the restaurant's friendly, relaxed vibe and carefully chosen wine list, makes Clayton's Kitchen at The Porter a favourite whether you are a die-hard foodie, dropping by for a casual bite to eat or simply picking up some treats from the Clayton's Kitchen range. Rob began perfecting his art in 1988 at Ménage à Trois London, achieving his first Michelin star aged just 25 as head chef at Hunstrete House Hotel. He remains one of the youngest chefs ever to do so. Rob gained a second Michelin Star as executive head chef at the Bath Priory. Since then his work has continued to achieve high praise, winning Pub Company Menu of the year and Food Champion of the Year.
