It is not often that I feel compelled to write a review but having just read comments from some clearly unhappy diners, I would like to add this. We booked into The Unicorn, a party of 18 in total and having been made extremely welcome with no drinks confusion, we were shown to our table. The food was served very... More

The Unicorn serves excellent food, wine and beer and prides itself on its service. The bar is the place to be as it has a huge open fire and has a very cosy atmosphere. The door could do with a porch to keep the draught out every time someone opens it but that is the only real niggle apart from... More

After having two great meals at the Unicorn last year on our last visit to Ludlow, we decided to go back again this year. What a disappointment! Whilst the pub is lovely and welcoming, with low beams and a roaring fire and the menu looked good. The starters were promising - the mackerel pate was very nice but then the... More

we visited this pub last year and were very pleased with the food. We therefore decided to make a return visit which turned out to be a huge mistake! It was absolutely terrible! The food was awful - a meal described as a sirloin steak could have been anything! The chips were anaemic and looked and roasted like cold fat.... More

The venue is beautiful. The food sounds appetizing on the menu. Arrived on a wooden platter but didnt taste too good. If you like huge chips then this is the place for you. If you like a wholesome amount of cheese in your tart then this is your destination. I prefer smaller amounts that have delicate flavours. Simply placing the... More

Welcoming bar in a nice town. No need to book as service is efficient and attentive. Food is probably a little over prices but as a tourist town, understandable. Great gastro specials.

Called in for lunch on a rather cold day, edged past a large builders merchants bag full of logs, entered the bar, welcomed by the bar man, all very pleasant and olde worlde yet no logs burning in the impressive hearth, it would have made such a difference, instead, we moved to three different tables before eventually finding one that... Cosy with open fire. Booked but did not get the table we reserved. However the food was lovely and at a reasonable price. Thank goodness way above normal pub fare. My brie tart wast particularly nice but the whole party enjoyed their meals.

Delicious food and lovely quaint setting. Caters well for vegetarians too which is a rare bonus! The only thing that annoyed us was to have our food order rushed the minute we arrived as the chef was finishing soon...why book us a table for 8.30 if that's going to be an issue? Though his only rush seemed to be to... More

We had an evening meal here, very friendly and welcoming staff, great food and not expensive. The portions are large and the food well cooked and tasty. Definitely worth a visit, it is bigger than it looks from the front with a large restaurant at the rear of the building.
