Good beer, relaxed, a big covered outdoor area, eclectic customer - all good. And pork pies to die for!

We were staying nearby in Linton Road, and having had a bad experience in a nearby pub we went to the Rose and Crown, hoping they served food. Immediately we felt comfortable and welcomed. the little pub was fairly busy, but a regular customer very...More

We came across this little pub in a most charming street. Decided on starters of potted crab and shrimp plus jalapeño prawns and whitebait. Just right. Nicely served, tasty with good bread and mayo. Friendly staff and a lovely relaxed cosy ambience. Reasonable price and...More

This little boozer doesn't hold many people and is quite far out of town but definitely worth a visit. There are 2 rooms, the front only housing 2 tables and a piano and the back a few more but the real space here is the...More

Low ceilings. Wooden floors. Many little rooms. Classic! Menu is not varied but what they have is carefully and quickly prepared. Outdoor backyard is wonderful spot. Covered so can sit outside in rain.

This is a pub where there is a decent selection of ales, no background music, a really lovely garden, the barmen wears a tie, and the food is reasonably priced and good value. George Orwell would probably be quite happy with this place. I've been...More

We popped in for a quick drink and were given a warm welcome from the lady behind the bar. Good beer. Obviously popular with locals. Quite a big yard at the back with tables. Is really old-fashioned and has lots of character. Prices a lot...More

Hello I just wanted to ask how it looks with parking spaces during the weekend near to the pub as we want to come down with a couple of cars.

Usually a cpl of spaces on the street itself, if not try non-residential bays on Winchester and Canterbury roads. 👍

Description
In Oxford you'll find a warm welcome at the Rose and Crown (built in 1863). Run by Deborah and Andrew for 30years, the award winning pub is popular with students, locals and tourists of all ages and interests. The bar stocks a range of traditional English bitter on handpump, as well as good wines, malt whiskies, Belgian bottled beers and lager. The menu offers a selection of hot and cold meals, freshly made sandwiches and light snacks. The traditional interior is simply styled with a cosy, characterful atmosphere and to the rear a vine-draped, heated and covered courtyard. Close to the town centre. Recommendations include The Good Pub Guide, The Good Beer Guide, The Quiet Pint.
