We are big fans of the Fishes and the Thatch, so thought that we would try the Bear and Ragged Staff. The pub itself has a really nice atmosphere and a nice mix of old and new design. We had duck and cheese soufflé starters...More

A glorious winter evening spent in this ‘local- but not too local’ charming pub. The food was paticulsrly delicious, with big portions and reasonable prices for Oxford. Was even offered an extra huge helping of apple crumble as we were the last customers of the...More

Having enjoyed The Fishes in Oxford we thought we'd try another Peachy Inn and found this one nearby. The building is amazing and the extension on the back is hidden from the road so doesn't spoil the look of the building. It is a big...More

Please can you review how you present Sunday lunch? From the way you present your food and the passion you clearly show it was strange to see cold, brittle and burnt Yorkshire puddings on 5 of the 6 plates... looking at other tables they too were similarly served. It may be better not to serve them if you find you have to pre-cook and reheat- I know you have to mass produce a lot for Sunday roasts but please do a quality review to see how you can serve them freshly baked? The roast beef was so evenly sliced it may be factory pre-cooked? The connective tissue was un-rendered in the slices I had which was unpleasant - again possibly because of the sheer number you have to get through I appreciate that you have to get through a lot of work but might be worth a review to check? Lastly the gravy served was over thickened and gloopy- possibly a batch that had been rushed late in the serving but it would be good to serve in gravy boats rather than cover the meat/ boiled veg on every plate, so people have the choice to serve themselves with what they want? I appreciate that Sunday roasts are hard work but with such a big turnover it would be worth checking things that might be slipping through that you may not be aware of, through no fault of your front of house staff who were friendly and helpful and lovely.
