Perkins has apparently been putting smiles on faces since the 1980s and has clearly moved with the times to thrive for so long, so must be doing something very right, we thought, when booking. It's not every day that you get to dine in a stylishly converted former railway station filled with quirky details yet with a surprisingly modern appeal.... More

Having had a disappointing experience here a couple of years ago, I was a little skeptical about returning. I need not have worried - we had a fabulous meal! Food was delicious - quality ingredients, well cooked, well presented. Only slight niggle is that they had run out of draught beer - no bottled either. Not an issue for me... More

We have never been disappointed with the locally sourced food, the service always welcoming and spot on as well. They don't do the Early bird menu but it's still value for money.

I used to go to Perkins many years ago when It had a fine dining feel to it and wasn't happy about portion sizes etc. I went back today for the first time in years after hearing they had moved more into the bistro world and it was a totally a different experience. I loved all the quirky touches like... More

Love this place. First went there soon after it opened in the 1980s when I was a student in Nottingham, my parents would take me there as a treat, and now I take my son, who is also studying in the city. It is quirky, elegant, welcoming, serves delicious food & has a special place in my heart. Thanks again... More

7 of us went out for a family meal. They have a wonderful range of Malts, it'd be rude not to! I normally see one thing on the menu that I really want, last night I could've had almost everything on the menu very happily (not the calves liver but my wife enjoyed it). I plumped for crab gratin to... More

We have not been to Perkins for many years, however we thought we would revisit old haunts. We are really glad we did. This place has great presence from the moment you arrive, I didn't think there was much evidence of it being an old station but it was dark so not easy to see the detail except the lovely... More

This is the restaurant we go to when we want something Special - Valentines, Mothers Day, friends/family visiting from afar or just when my husband and I want to 're-connect'. It is quite a drive from our home but well worth it. Love the fact it is situated on the disused Plumtree station. That name in itself conjures up so... More

Wow what an experience! I last visited Perkins 30 years ago and cannot understand how this fabulous restaurant had gone under our radar for so long! It was truly exquisite. The food was divine, the presentation inspired and the staff were perhaps the best I have ever come across. They were young, vibrant, polite to the extreme with a great... More

There is a recent review below from an October visitor who state that they are left disappointed with Perkins and unfortunately, I am inclined to agree. We haven't visited since 2014 and it was actually a regular as I used to live in Nottingham. We forgot how good the Sunday lunch was back then so decided to try it again... More

Description
Perkins Bar & Bistro, located at Plumtree's beautiful former Victorian Railway station, enjoyed an exciting transformation in 2016. Emerging as Perkins Bar & Bistro to fanfare from critics and public alike, the new eaterie offers food that's modern and fresh. There are sharer-board starters, 'Bistro bites', main plates and daily specials using ingredients from Perkins' very own smokehouse. There's an ever-changing daily Prix Fixe, Afternoon Teas and Perkins' Sunday offering is extended until 5pm - modern and classic seasonal dishes that commit to ingredients sourced from quality suppliers, local when possible. In terms of interior, think rustic tables, brass light fittings and bar seats amid reclaimed textures and materials. The re-designed interior offers a relaxed countryside bistro feel, somewhere you'd be equally happy to pop in for a pint and a snack or enjoy lunch or dinner.
