We have just enjoyed a very tasty meal during our Christmas shopping. The pre-theatre menu offers very good value and includes specials

Excellent rural French cooking avoiding nouvelle cuisine served by very welcoming & friendly staff. The ambience is authentic and I will keep returning for more. PS Their tea tastes better than many English teas.

Popped in here for lunch with my boyfriend while we were in town. Received a warm welcome and got seated at a cute little table. Ordered our food and drink and we were so impressed how amazingly good it was. Felt like we were in France. It's a very traditional little French restaurant. Service was very nice. Good , proper... Thank you for your kind review. I'm so pleased you recognised and appreciated our home-cooked dishes, made with fresh seasonal ingredients.....tastes so much better when made from scratch. We think the hard work, and time taken to cook this way, is worth the effort, so it really means a lot when customers take the time to tell us they love... More

Had a very pleasant, relaxed evening with my friend. It's always nice to go to a restaurant where you don't feel rushed and French Living certainly has that chilled atmosphere. From a food experience though, I thought it was OK but unfortunately, can't enthuse about it anymore than that. The mussels were served in a nice sauce. The venison was... More

Thank you for taking the time to write. Sounds like on the whole you had a good time with your friend, particularly enjoying our sauces. It's interesting that you highlighted the sauces and the gratin because these are key elements of French cuisine. They require skill, time and knowledge of French classic cookery. All our dishes are made from scratch.... More

Friendly staff; a truly French feel. I just love the omlette and French fries with a glass of red wine. Perfect before the theatre.

Couldn't agree more - omelette, chips, glass of wine and then the theatre. Sounds like heaven! More

Haven't been here for a few years and it was good to see that it is still as good as it ever was. The service is top notch, they are fully aware of what is going on and everything came quickly. The food and drinks are both really good and are very different to many of the other offerings in... More

Nice to have you back! Nothing changes at French Living. Stef & I are still around. So is Audrius....Jeremy in the kitchen. A few more grey hairs, but that's it. Creme brûlée still amazing. Cassoulet to remind us of Toulouse. Classic omelette...,French home-cooked classics will never go out of fashion. More

Popped in for a quick dinner on a Saturday evening before attending a gig. Only had time for one course each, but service was prompt and friendly. The tagine au legumes I chose was superb - very rich and flavoursome. So nice to find a vegetarian dish that I could enjoy (as a non-meat-eater I usually have to resort to... More

Thank you for taking the time to write your very kind review. I'm so pleased you like our tagine. I am enjoying an increasingly vegetarian diet which is why I like to create more imaginative options for non-meat eaters. The French actually have a wonderful array of vegetable dishes, but they rarely get served in restaurants (often reserved for the... More

Went with my 15 year old son for a savoury pancake. Delicious as usual! Stéphane (the owner) was there for a friendly chat. Best place to go in Nottingham for a nice, friendly lunch!

Eat here for lunch probably once a month and the food is always excellent. Simple, excellent French food and incredible value. The house red is also one of the nicest I've had.

Description
A family owned brasserie in a French provincial town...Nottingham! Since 1994, this delicious Gallic haven, presided by charismatic Corsican Stephane Luiggi, has created a tiny piece of France in the centre of Nottingham. Today it's a thriving, bustling restaurant on two floors, with a ground floor dining area for up to 40 customers boasting a unique Deli Corner, offering farmhouse unpasteurised cheese, wines from small growers, French grocery essentials, as well as some rare brocante finds. A large red-bricked basement room, for up to 44 diners, is reminiscent of Toulousain restaurants, La Ville Rose, where Stephane met his Nottingham-born wife Louise. The dishes and menus are typical of a French bistro; simple, classic recipes, all home-made from fresh ingredients. Stephane and Louise aim to serve meals that make the French feel at home, and the British remember their holidays. Authenticity, combined with a desire to share French culture, to pass on knowledge, from translations to the hidden gems of Corsica, makes French Living a truely unique, warm and memorable experience.
