My boyfriend and I visited here for breakfast on a Wednesday morning at around 10:00. There was enough seats for us and people were coming and going often so we moved to the big table by the window. As people say, it's small and you can feel a *little* bit squashed in but it's definitely nothing to complain about because... More

The best small coffee cafe in York by far. Whether coming in from the railway station or Museum Gardens as you approach the bridge look over to the rowing club and there is the round turreted building where the peacock is definitely perky. Coffee doesn't get any better than this and with a bacon sandwich and a white chocolate and... More

We spotted the Perky Peacock as we were having a walk down the river so decided to pop in for a coffee. It's a quirky little coffee shop, little being a key word, but you can either drink in, outside on a couple of pavement tables or take away. Coffee was good, the cake was nice and the staff were... I was looking for a professional caffetteria to get a very good coffe and this come out as one of the winning barista place so I finally had time to try it yesterday. The location and the place itself is beautiful and very old, for who is looking a cosy one. I choose after a wrong explanation of a Flat... More

Ambience/Decor: Hidden well under Linden Bridge, adjacent to the waterfront. The coffee shop is in a circular tower with period features and looks great. Only a few tables inside and out though so will be difficult to get a table (we got the only available one!) Cleanliness: Very clean and tidy. Didn't need a bathroom but couldn't find one. Food:... This is a lovely quirky little coffee shop - where else could you enjoy excellent coffee and a selection of delicious cakes and other snacks in a medieval stone toll tower. It's a very comfortable little place. You can even sit outside if the weather's good. Definitely worth seeking out and far better than the usual Costa, Starbucks, etc.

What a great name? - the perky peacock. Its certainly different and cafe lives up to its name. Its really quirky as set in the turrret of an ancient river bridge ! Very attractive setting and a unique cafe. Quite small but seating available inside and outside. Friendly staff. Menu not particularly extensive but great place for coffee and cake... More
