Amazing homemade stew and tasty pies. Would definitely recommend a visit to this unusual pub. The decor is slightly strange with stuffed animals littered about the joint, but they certainly know what they are doing food wise!

Love this place. Visited Friday lunch for about the 6th times and is a must do in every visit we make to York. Great beer, great platters and a great cheeseboard. Stairs are always a challenge on the way out ;-)

This is a medieval ale house and specialist beer merchant/store. It is simply amazing, the quirky food is excellent - robust cheeseboards , pies, stews, best locally sourced ingredients and has a 5 start rating from hygiene standards. They also have some amazing holiday apartments, check out their website
