This is a lovely pub with great character. We visited for a family birthday meal mid-week when it was quite quiet so i have to say its unacceptable that we were not offered menus at the table, we got our own-we then had to go to the bar to ask for more drinks and then again to say that we... More

I have moved back to Norwich and am revisiting some of my 'haunts'. Used to meet a friend here after work on a Friday so we recreated it just after Christmas. Obviously the decor had changed and I was pleased to see a new lampshade had been put in place after one of my friend's lively nights (do not ask!!).... More

We ate here with family and all thoroughly enjoyed it. Between the six of us we tried all the varieties of roast including the nut roast. All were excellent and very large portions. The food was piping hot and the gravy was proper gravy and very tasty. The veg was lovely although carrots slightly over cooked. The desserts were lovely... More

We often go the the Eagle for family meals and drinks and we love it. The food is great and James and his staff always go out of their way to make us and my dog, Nellie, very very welcome. It is a really friendly pub and the food is just outstanding. We ate here on Christmas Eve and on... More

We were all a bit underwhelmed by the food. Crackers cheapest ever. Too much spice in the soup had a few of us leaving it. Main was OK. Pudding was disappointing, especially sorry for the person who had the cheese board. A mean delivery of cheese. These guys could definitely have done better

Thank you for your comments. We're sorry that you found your Christmas Meal average. Given the overwhelming positive response, both here on Trip Advisor and from emails. I felt the need to address your comments. I'm sorry that you found the crackers cheap. I understand that when pulling a Christmas Cracker we all have our fingers crossed for the tiny... More

I arranged a Christmas evening meal for a group of 32 and what a perfect evening it was. We had preordered so that made everything very easy, we were allocated the downstairs room on three large tables that were nicely laid out and very festive. There was a choice of four for each course and £22 for three courses was... More

Food was very good and well above average considering the numbers and price. Staff were friendly and Andy in particular was extremely helpful. I would highly recommend this venue.

If you like a bright, soulless bar that wants you out before the clock strikes 11pm then this is the place for you.... If not, go anywhere else!

Hi Whirlygigger, We are sorry that you found the bar bright and soulless, unfortunately given our location and the fact that we are more of an eating pub than a drinking pub we tend to find that we have an excellent atmosphere earlier on in the evenings during the weekdays. The later part of the evening (10pm onward) we are... More
