We were two people, one of whom had not been to The Goulash House before. We were welcomed warmly by the waiter who promptly served our drinks whilst he took our order. We decided to share some bread and olives whilst waiting for our main...courses. They were good. One of us had the Hungarian Beef Goulash and the other the Lamb Goulash. Both served with Hungarian dumplings, they were very filling! Extra special comfort food! The restaurant was very happy to "box" the part of the meal which we couldn't eat (simply too much) and we will return one the lockdown is lifted. This is a small, friendly, local restaurant which deserves to do well.More

We went here for the first time 2 days before the second national coronavirus lockdown; significant as it was our last meal out for a month, and we're glad we chose it. The menu is, predictably mainly goulashes, but that is what you go for!...I had the lamb and bacon one with Hungarian dumplings. The lamb was melt-in-the-mouth tender, and the flavour rich and satisfying. The dumplings were the perfect accompaniment, as was a nice Hungarian Merlot. Black forest gateau for afters, and the bill, for two was £55. Not bad at all!More

Such a lovely restaurant! The food was amazing, very generous portion sizes and so tasty. Service was swift and friendly and the restaurant was very well decorated and spotlessly clean. Overall a really good experience, would definitely recommend and visit again!

We went here as we wanted something special for our wedding anniversary, hardly had a word for the person serving, the dumplings are basically a bit like pasta twists, nothing like you expect, we would not go here again, no one else eating either while...we were there, we were disappointed that we had chose to go there for our wedding anniversaryMore

Very friendly waiter, explained the dishes well. Exceptionally clean restaurant. Food cooked to an extremely high standard. Would highly recommend and will definitely visit again on a future trip to Norwich. Fantastic value for money and very substantial portions of food. Would recommend the Gypsy...Roast and Hentes Ragu.More

Had to try this place as you don't come across many Hungarian restaurants. Excellent food, lovely service, good value wine. Very clean, nicely decorated, good loo. Worth seeking out.

I cannot work out how this restaurant has such a high traveller rating on this site. We phoned ahead to book as we thought it would be popular. No bother getting a table at any time on a Saturday evening at short notice. There were...4 other people in the whole restaurant for the entire time we were there. I ordered wild boar ghoulash (based on the reviews on here). My husband ordered Hungarian ghoulash. The portions were generous but both were bland without a hint of spice. The wine we ordered was awful. It was expensive. Bland ghoulash in an empty restaurant on a Saturday evening - I wouldn’t recommend eating here as there are many many better places to eat in Norwich than this.More

Always on the lookout for new food experiences, my partner and I noticed the Goulash House on Trip Advisor when hunting for food in Norwich. We loved the atmosphere and the greeting from our host and server, who was ready to offer the traditional fruit...brandy as a pre-dinner aperitif. I tried the honey walnut and my partner had the honey cherry. Both were delicious and did get us prepped for the meal! We started with mushroom soup and the cottage cheese appetizer and both were great. The soup was light but flavorful with large mushroom slices, carrots, and some noodles. We quickly moved into our mains of wild boar goulash and chicken paprikas, both with dumplings. The wild boar was very tender and packed with flavor as was the chicken. The dumplings are light and tender and make the perfect bite with the meat and sauce. We were pleasantly full but not stuffed, so we moved on to dessert and had the black forest ganache and the chestnut mousse. Both were great, but the chestnut mousse was like nothing I've ever had before. Sweet and earthy at the same time, with loads of cream. We cleaned our plates, enjoyed the Hungarian red wine, and left as very happy people. The food is rich, satisfying, flavorful, and made with care. We both highly recommend a visit to Goulash House if you're in Norwich and want food with TLC!More

They now have a licence to serve alcohol. If you take your own bottle I believe there is corkage of £10 , but I'm not certain
