Visited Gordon's on a very busy Saturday night in early December, absolutely fantastic experience. Loved the laid back and busy atmosphere... Cheese superb, wine selection is perfection... look forward to our next visit.

What a fantastic place but get there early or you won't get a table. Buzzy, busy and brilliant. Excellent selection of wines and great selection of hot or cold food at reasonable prices. Staff are friendly and happy to advise. Dark corners for the romantic. I don't know anywhere else like it.

The key when going to Gordon's wine bar is to go earlier in the day and not in the evening. It's an unusual venue as it's based in a cave-like environment where you can drink wine and eat cheese by candle light. The atmosphere is fantastic. Unfortunately though it's not an unknown venue so it gets very crowded during peak... More

Hidden London gem. Great selection of wines and a make your own cheeseboard. The bar has a lot of history with lots of memorabilia on the wall, and previous residents give it a claim to fame. Inside it completely candlelit and almost cave like with no natural light. It had a great outdoor area for nice summer days as well.... More

Every time I go to London I make sure that I visit Gordon's wine bar for a glass (or two) of wine and to check out the atmosphere of London's oldest wine bar. Quite an experience when you walk down the stairs into a very dim "cave like" area. Watch your head as you go through to the even darker... More

Gordon's is a renowned wine bar in London. Any Londoner who hasn't heard of it, either does not go out or has just arrived to live here. It's a classic "I've just arrived in London and I've found this wonderful bar!" kind of place, that, a few months after living in the city, the person will feel as though it's... More

Great meeting place. We were eating elsewhere but the cold meats and cheeses looked enticing, and there was hot food too. Some interesting wine choices - the Lebanese white was tasty and not overpriced for central London

It's so easy to walk past Gordon's but don't! On a summer's day enjoy outside, or in winter sit in the "cave" downstairs. Port by the glass and a big cheese platter - great way to while away the hours with friends

Gordon's Wine Bar was a wonderful experience! I was initially attracted to it because I heard it was the oldest wine bar in London. It was so charming & unique, and then the wine and cheeses were outstanding. I asked the "cheese guy" to help me pare cheese with the wine we choose. We couldn't believe how spot on he... More

One of the most extraordinary wine bars I have ever been to. It was very busy, giving a great atmosphere, yet somehow we managed to get a table around the corner in the low ceilinged 'cellar'/tunnel area. The candle's in wine bottles gave a very relaxing ambiance for evening drinks. We shared a bottle of red wine off the specials... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
