We ate there twice during this trip. Very good food, not too spicy, but very flavorful. We tried the pre-theater Express Thali and it was great. about 10 pounds, but more than enough food for one person. The othe rday, I took Non-Veg Thali. It was also very good, but of course more than 20 pounds. The Lamb soup was... More

This is a very good Indian Restaurant just off Tottenham Court Road. We went here for dinner with friends after picking this restaurant following reviews on Tripadvisor. The food is from Southern India so not quite your normal High St Indian. The waiter was very helpful, explaining each of the dishes and there was a nice atmosphere in the restaurant.... More

I needed an evening meal on my own and fancied "Indian". Chettinad turned up on Trip Advisor as an option. I took the plunge. It was well worth it. Taste was brilliant, quantities were fine and service was slow - but I did not mind that. The 12.5% service charge is automatically put on - I object to that principal,... More

I made last minute reservations for 2 and I should have read the fine print. There is a minimum charge of 16 pounds at dinner. Neither my daughter nor I drink so it's challenging to spend that much. I felt unwanted when we ordered water. The food was spicy and average.

The dosa was a great gluten free surprise along awesome rich Indian food. I'd highly recommend this location. We ate here after a long morning touring the British Museum and were not disappointed.

We were visiting from the US and wanted to try out Sounth Indian food in London. The food we ordered was the vegetarian platter which we liked a lot -- especially the gobi (califlower) fritters, the mini masala dosa and the vadai with sambar. The sambar, vadai and dosa filling were very flavorful and authentic in tase. The best part... More

We had dosas and vadais and both were really good. The food came really quickly and the staff were very friendly. The venue is really nice and on a nice quiet street right in the centre!

4 of us ate here tonight and we all loved it. I've never actually been to Chittinad in Tamil Nadu but I have been very, very close twice and eaten the food, and this little place in London near the British Museum is authentic and marvelous. It's also very reasonably price. About $30 US per person including drinks. Pleasant service.... More

This is one of my favourite Indian restaurants in London. It's suitable for all occasions, whether it be for a date, food with friends or lunch. They offer great value and amazing choices for both meat-eaters and vegetarians like me. The Expess Lunch is perfect as it's served promptly, without compromising the quality of food. Service is always excellent. P.... More

Description
Welcome to Chettinad, the world of phenomenal South Indian cuisine. Chettinad is a small village in the Southern Tamil Nadu State of India. Chettinad is known for its culinary delicacies and now is one of the many reasons why people get to know Chettinad. We are a no fuss, no frill, stylish, laid back diner, who just speaks of truly and honest South Indian food in the heart of Central London.

We only know how to cook-up good home comfort authentic food freshly made to order with understated approach to service. No meal is complete without traditional Dosa, lentil pancake eaten any time during the day.

Well! Certainly it isn't just another Curry House!!! "Ideal place to try something new if you are a South Indian food virgin"

Back home in Chettinad, your dishes are served on a huge fresh banana leaf, a disposable platter. Contact with your food is direct and tactile as you eat with your right hand, mixing wet into dry ingredients - a messy business for the uninitiated. In Chettinad Restaurant here, we want you to experience authentic original flavours, therefore you would find some of our dishes served with fresh banana leaf.

Today we appreciate and respect that you have entrusted your palate to us, we will take great loving care and take your taste buds on a journey where each mouthful sings a new magical ''WOW'' note.
Enjoy your meal at Chettinad- The Village Restaurant, where "QUALITY MEETS TRADIITON"
