We came here for a quick eat on the way to the Design Museum, mainly because Fodor's Travel 2017 guide for London recommend this hole-in-wall place for good basic Chinese food. Well, the wonton had a strange texture and taste, the noodle is bland and unlike any noodles served in Chinese restaurants, and the soup taste like boiled water spiced... More

Stick and Bowl has been here forever, and is exactly as the day it opened. It is great to sit on stools for fast Chinese. Great food and friendly service. Be prepared to fit in where there is space. Recommended!

Just had a bowl of stick&bowl noodle soup there. £6.90. Cheap but smallish size, unremarkable. Below average ambience and service. However I did see stir fry on top of rice dish looked really decent, larger serves.

We have been coming to S&B for almost 10 years now and have NEVER been disappointed. Sure it is not sophisticated, or comfortable for that matter, but the dishes always hit the spot. Note: the staff are exceptionally friendly too, which is rare enough these days that it deserves to earn the restaurant brownie points. S&B deserves 11 OUT OF... More

Was looking forward to having lunch as we thoroughly enjoyed meals here before, admittedly a couple of years ago. Ordered crispy noodles with roast duck, it came completely smothered in some sweet sticky sauce, which I was not expecting. Food was also tepid. Chef may have had a bad day, but will not be returning, regretfully.

Small, intimate and consistent. I've been going here for 10 years, usually have the crispy shredded beef and its always the same, delicious! Gets very busy lunch time and you sit very close to other customers. A must for authentic Chinese food.

The fried noodles with roast pork is still one of the best in town. It's crispy and the portions are big. Value for money and if ure on a budget and feel like having Cantonese food, this is the place to be. Food serves fast too.

Don't waste time paying exorbitant prices at fancy Cantonese Restaurants in London. This restaurant located at the end of Kensington High Street serves the best home style Cantonese Food, great portions, good ingredients. Only thing is the restaurant is small, be prepared to sit on stools, it's worth it. HOWEVER the problem is because of the good value for money,... More

I have been eating here for the past 30 years. The food has been great since then. They only take cash. The seats are awful the service is even worse. But the food is worth it... You can always take away the food. The place has a long menu and Al tastes fantastic expect for the fried sea weed

For a quick and tasty Chinese dinner I always go to the Stick & Bowl if in the area. Dishes are listed in sections either with rice or noodles (as a complete course) or without (larger dish for sharing). Service is efficient, seating is on shared benches/bar stools. I always take cash, I think it may be cash only. If... More

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
