I visited Silka while in London on a business trip hoping for a good curry. While the portions were generous, the quality of the food was very poor. The prawn puri was cooked in a fairly bland sauce while the chicken jalfrezi main course tasted like it had been made with a jar of ready-made sauce - it certainly wasn't... More

Dont believe the 5 star reviews(?!?), my girlfriend vomited an hour after eating here - After trying and failing countless times to book a table over the phone, we decided to turn up anyway and see if they'd give us a table. The staff were quite rude and unwelcoming when we mentioned the tastecard but we decided to stay. We... More

This is not authentic tasting indian food. It's greasy and poorly cooked. portions were pathetic. counted 10 tiny pieces of paneer in a chilli paneer dish that cost 7.50. Way overpriced.

A good menu that caters for all. The food is made to view and the choice is extensive. If you want to taste authentic Indian flavours then this is a good place for a visit. The service is slow and waiters confuse orders so remember what you order if your in a large party! It is not expensive at all... More

Tucked away near Borough Market, we popped in here for a lunch and a breather. The surroundings reminded us of a cafeteria, but the food was really nice and the service was excellent. Would be more than happy to return.

Ended up here last night after we found that our usual haunt had closed down since our last visit. Empty tables at 10pm on a Friday night should've been sufficient warning but by then we'd all had a skinfull and really needed a curry. Considering that the four of us are not exactly what you would call slim, it came... More

Amidst all the frantic activity to be found around London Bridge, this restaurant is a comparative haven of peace; or at least it was on the Saturday afternoon when my wife and I visited. With little more frontage than a door, it is easily overlooked unless one knows it is there. But it is certainly worth seeking out. Being below... More

Not realy bad food, but a dreadful place. Don't mind the cellar, but poor athmosphere. In good old England, famous for tea drinking, you won't get a cup of tea or coffee here! Only cash, no cards, which is out of time for a serious restaurant. Anyway, i brought most of the time on the toilet that night....

Had a nice chicken madras, mushroom rice, onion Bhaji. Very good food - I especially liked the discoid (rather than spherical) onion bhajis - too many places do them as big tennis ball size dollops but these were lovely and flat and crispy. Bottle of kingfisher and shared a bottle of quite pleasant Pinot noir. All in all great food.... More

Staying in Southwark

Neighbourhood Profile
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighbourhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
