A very disappointing experience. The restaurant was very busy and our waitress was clearly stressed. The roast beef was very tough and was served as industrial sized chunks of meat.

Went on Sunday with family, ordered tea and savoury sandwich. The presentation of the sandwich was perfect, tea was of high quality. Waiting staffs are attentive, nice ambience..overall good experience.

The Wolseley was one of Lucian Freud's eateries. We did not follow his favourites apart from the ice cream named after him, which was enjoyable. The place is very popular with visitors and locals alike. Quite noisy! Even spotted Anna an Bill ding with friends.

The surroundings here are really historic. The building was created by a car manufacturer, Wolseley, in the 1920s as a de luxe showroom. It's now a fantastic brasserie with slick service and an excellent English breakfast menu.

Took my mother for afternoon tea and she loved it. Really nice place, beautifully decorated and steeped in history. Enjoyable tea as good as anywhere I have been

Our annual breakfast visit to kick off the xmas season and we had a great time! The English Breakfast for me which was substantial even without the toast which is extra. My wife and daughter had pancakes (3 big thick ones) one with bacon the other blueberries and my other daughter had the large eggs benedict. Great quality and service... More

Just returned after a thoroughly disappointing lunch at The Wolseley. We were show to our table and given a menu, my friend asked for a vegetarian menu which never arrived, neither did the waiter who was taking care of us. I had to find a waiter to ask for some bread for the table as well as a bottle of... More

This was my first visit and I had wanted to come here for ages after hearing good things about it. It was very busy on a late Friday afternoon and we wanted an early supper. I ordered Moules and my friend the Bavette. Two glasses of champagne also as it was a special occasion. Water and butter were brought to... More

A very large dining room but somehow it keeps a certain intimacy. Great service. You can't go wrong. Wonderful oysters, steak tartare, seafood and fish. Couldn't fault it. Service was very efficient but at the same time you didn't feel rushed. Definitely need to book - even so we got our table 15 minutes later than Not bad for London... More

Staying in St. James's

Neighbourhood Profile
St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.
