I probably read over 100 restaurant reviews and asked local friends for their recommendations before deciding where to eat when I was in London in November. Hands down the #1 recommendation was always The Wolseley. Everything was impeccable from the reception staff who accommodated a table change, to the knowledgeable server, who never made us feel rushed, to the iconic... More

Great atmosphere, lots of show biz people and terrific service. The menu is comfortable unlike many complicated menus around the West End. Loads of - hate to use the word but it works here "nice" things to eat. Didn't try the schnitzels because I've never had a good one outside Austria. All very good and my wife had decided it's... The Wolseley has been an occasional treat for a few years and a recent lunch stop continued the experience. We managed to pick up a late booking for lunch, midweek, and had an excellent meal with fine service. As ever, a fine range of diners to share the experience with, and the surroundings are as entertaining as ever. Always happy... More

We booked The Private Room for our daughter's 40th birthday dinner party. The location is wonderful, with views over the entire restaurant. The menu we selected was executed superbly and the staff who attended us were delightful and efficient. It was a thoroughly enjoyable, intimate evening.

I visited the Wolseley recently with my sister. The muesli and French toast were delicious. Total bill for both of us was £44. The only problem was that we waited almost 30mins for our food. Worth the wait.

Book well in advance as we did. Beef roast perfect with great service. Wonderful people watching and it's a real favourite of ours.

Went to the Wolseley for an early breakfast on Sunday morning, at 8.30 am the place was already buzzing and as we expected, the decor is beautiful, with high ceilings and marble colums. Despite the magnificence of the dining room, there is not much space between tables, of course they want to maximise the space! Service was ok, though we... More

We had two pre lunch drinks, two starters, two mains, three glasses of wine and two coffees and paid £150. Was it worth it? Yes! We both left smiling, so as a special treat for my wife's birthday it was worth it. Service and cooking were all good.

First time at The Wolseley and I had high expectations. When you have heard so much about a place, travelled a long way, are really looking forward to something, you can't help but have high expectations. Firstly, this traditional and grand space is beautiful and when decorated for Christmas, it seems especially so. My (not easily impressed) teenage son and... More

This is without doubt one of the worst restaurant experiences I have had in London. We came for breakfast for my girlfriends birthday. After ordering pastries to start and 2 mains, the waiters decided to bring the main over while we were halfway through the pastries, meaning our table ended up covered in food and what should have been a... Staying in St. James's

Neighbourhood Profile
St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.
