Wong Kei is THE place for me every time when I need to have some food in London, I mean food only. I think they have the very nicely cooked traditional Chinese dishes, cheapest price and most fresh materials – think of their turnover of the number of customers, they won’t keep any meat and veg for long before cooking it!... Generally all dishes a very good and excellent value. Some of the staff make the extra effort to make one's stay more pleasant. I have been visiting for over 30 years (!) The style has changed a little. Some of the dishes are exceptional. The wines and beers are very basic. Malaysian style ho fun is a good light and... More

Historically, Wong Kei had a reputation for having loud waiters (some would say even rude) but served delicious meals in generous helpings at an affordable price. I know because I used to love ordering their roast pork in rice. So today it was a shock that the staff were no longer shouting...that was the positive. Now the negative. They got... More

Epically good Chinese Food that might have you raise an eyebrow at their blatant disregard for common social norms in regards to wait service however, NO ONE cares because their food is that good.

I rarely write bad reviews. But if it comes to that I wont hesitate. I went with family and babies. The restaurant was not busy. Lots of empty tables. First greetings was not friendly to begin. Nevertheless we were 'pushed' to a table. Menu was literally thrown on the table. We later ordered some food and it came quick. Later... More

We went for a pre theatre meal and were disappointed! Had to chase for the food after waiting half and hour. The duck was good but the chicken and cashew was flavourless! Came here many years ago and enjoyed it, now not so good and won't be going back.

Waiters can use some course "what is hospitality". At this restaurant waiters are surly and they are not really welcome you. Be careful when you are moving a chair, because they get mad if you are doing that. Dishes were too salty. Positive thing: none.

We chose this after reading reviews that it would be good to visit with kids. Unfortunately the food was terrible - worst quality chinese meal I've ever had and the service was quite abrupt. There are much better options - usually go to Gerrard's Corner and wish we had stuck to this for our first visit to Chinatown with the... More

Staying in Soho

Neighbourhood Profile
Soho
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighbourhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.
