This is a great old 50’s style, but much older (end of 19 Century) fish restaurant. You have to really pay for everything here and as an experience it worth it (maybe!!). The service is special with the only blemish that the waiters and waitresses...More

Visited for lunch after being on our list for sometime. Really strange seating set up majority of places seem to be at bars Menu not very exciting so hoped what we ordered would be special, unfortunately no better than most fish restaurants, however, the best...More

Going back in 'time' - interesting to observe! Sea food was very nice but - because everyone arrives more or less at the same time the beautiful fresh fish may not be cooked to perfection. Also, don't even think about the excuse for chips -...More

I rang up to book lunch for my friends and I, but stupidly forgot that there’s no booking, but turn up and take ppt luck. I was advised by a friendly member of staff that if I wanted to get a table quickly that the...More

I went to Sweetings with mates as part of a Christmas shindig. I enjoyed it very much. It is a seafood restaurant, and has an old fashioned look and feel to it, as befits an establishment that has been on site since 1889. There is...More

Once a year, after I have delivered our dreary freelance accounts to the accountant I reward myself with lunch at Sweetings. I sit on a high stool up to a counter and am looked after by a white aproned woman on the other side. I...More

They say of the Church of England that people in this country don't like to go to church, but they do like to have a church not to go to. That's pretty much how I feel about Sweetings. I love the fact that it's still...More

Typical city lunch. Old waiters with experience... not the friendliest service, a bit rushed, but food was real good. Weird seating nothing too private, large tables, this restaurant is the same as it was years ago. That makes its charm and maybe his flaws. Enjoyed...More

Sweetings don't take reservations they open 11.30-3pm Monday to Friday so it's best to get there fairly early to ensure a table.
