My wife and I visited this City institution recently. It was relatively quiet as it is August . The fish was excellent as always and it was a pleasure to return.

Another place we have been meaning to visit and as our daughter now works nearby the opportunity presented itself. We dined on a Monday and it was busy but not packed. Dishes chosen included Dover Sole, Lobster Bisque and Hake. All were terrific made better...More

Old fashioned and unique and an institution. All black and white, and ceiling fans. seated on stools in several separate serving stations. its buzzy and noisy at lunch. We had potted shrimps, hake and cod, with lobster mash and veggies. Accompanied by a white Bordeaux....More

There is nothing quite like this anywhere. Several stations where you are waited on by your own personal waiter/ress in a bygone world. See all the city toffs quaffing gallons of the finest Chablis and Loires whilst chomping on some very decent Crustaceans.

Who ever says that you should not eat fish on mondays has obviously not been here. The fish was very fresh and tasted super. If the food is fresh then the interior is the exact opposite. It has probably looked like this for ever -...More

Been eating here for over 20 years and the ambiance and quality of the fish and service are still first class, however the bills have crept up over the years and a bill not far shy of £200 without going mad is getting very expensive....More

Old fashioned fish and oyster restaurant in the heart of a rapidly changing City. The days of leisurely boozy lunches are clearly now behind us. This restaurant made up of individual hosted bar seating at the front and a crammed restaurant at the rear is...More

Sweetings is a venerable establishment that I hadn't visited for many years - probably about thirty. Very pleased to report that it just as good as I remember it. The downstairs seating is (white clothed) bar-style, and the place is busy, as lunching City types...More

I've been here a few times. It only opens about 3.5 hour a day Mon-Fri, so very much a City restaurant. Most of the customers are workers in the local area. The restaurant has been around for ever, and very much knows what it does...More

Sweetings don't take reservations they open 11.30-3pm Monday to Friday so it's best to get there fairly early to ensure a table.
