Enjoyed supper last night. I had fillet, husband had rump. Neither steaks were as good as they could have been, given price. Have eaten better elsewhere. But starters delicious. Nicola

I went here with some friends for an early evening meal in the week. We enjoyed a cocktail in the bar downstairs before heading up to the restaurant. The cocktails nice with some unusual twists and pretty reasonable prices for London (£9ish). All the staff we came into contact with were really friendly and helpful so we happily left the... More

We came here for lunch before heading off to Wembley. We reserved a table in the cafe. I must say that the food could be better and as we're in a place owned by a masterchef judge, I'd expect homemade chips. Despite that, our meals were fine and not a bad price for London. The beer is good and the... More

sunny Spring day , enabled the sliding doors to be opened to take in the pleasant , but not breathtaking views across the city. That said probably the best view from a low floor in London due to it being just above the skyscape of Smithfield market. My colleague and I both had the fillet steak medium rare and it... More

Downstairs is busy and buzzy. In contrast the Restaurant on the top floor aims to have a more refined air in a bright open room overlooking the rooves of the market to the city skyline. Service is bright and attentive the steaks what you would expect and the wines appropriately matched ( and priced ) An enjoyable and interesting experience.... More

Great food and fantastic service, the steak was perfect and the sides were all very nice. Very good service and large wine selection. Drinks beforehand on the heated balcony was also nice

I've now been here twice. One on the top floor and one in the dining room on 3rd floor. Both great experiences in a relaxed atmosphere with great food and beer.

We went early one evening to celebrate my birthday. Smith's is in a converted warehouse set on three floors with the main restaurant on the to floor. There is also a roof terrace. The decor is all bare brick, stripped wooden floors and visible piping. The two of us shared a "tomahawk" steak. In reality the largest rib I have... More

I felt like a fish out of water on arrival - wearing my suit and tie - to find a large room lined with trestle tables and packed with people having a noisy good time. Reminded me of the bar on a Friday night in my university days. We were, however, to dine upstairs in private room which provided some peace... More

Staying in Clerkenwell

Neighbourhood Profile
Owing to its proximity to Smithfield Market – the site of an ancient meat market which remains in operation today – Clerkenwell boasts a plethora of globally renowned restaurants, fabulous local eateries, and some of London's favorite pubs. This isn't merely a focal point for all things foodie though. Spend enough time wondering through the area's maze of streets and you might become accustomed to the litany of slinky models passing between Clerkenwell's handful of fashion houses. Far outnumbering the models are craftspeople and designers, many of them are more than happy to welcome visitors into their studios and showrooms.
