We had been told to try the River Café for many years and so our expectations were high. The food was indeed very tasty but the whole ‘dining experience’ made it something to forget. The tables are cramped, the portions tiny, the bill large, the...More

Indifferent waitress, very average food, very expensive. For these prices, you really expect something special but even the bread (focaccia) was very average and the olive oil tasted like washing up liquid. My husband's pasta was bland, my scallops were OK but the tiny bit...More

The food was great, but one feels they are now catering to the tourist market. The service and food cannot be faulted and the choice on the menu was excellent. The wine was expensive for the quality.

The River Cafe does nothing very wrong. The place is nice enough and the food and service were fine but the prices were ludicrous. £30 for a starter, £39 for a few slices of beef ...and so on. Four people, cocktail before dinner, two bottles...More

We visited earlier this month for the winter set lunch menu. Front of House staff were attentive, polite and showed us to the bar as our table was not ready. There was some slight confusion when we were shown to our table, as the wine...More

We went and had a great meal during January when they had a special lunch menu on, we took our son who was still on holiday from school and it didn't quite work for him and with the limited set menu it was even harder....More

Good front of house. Sent starter back as cold and too aldente even for me. Delicious main for other half but really average for me. £220 seems vastly over priced for lunch for two.

Last visit was terrible, decided to go again, because there is a dearth of fresh pasta in London, other than here and Bocca di Lupo. Taglioni verdi was excellent. Had a bottle of Produttori del Barbaresco, already knowing how good this wine is. Veal chop...More

Hello, it's not too far to be honest, if you are staying in the West End it will take you 15 minutes by taxi or Uber.

Menu changes daily so as others have suggested it's best to call ahead and find out. They are a tiny bit flexible but most Italian cuisine involves a lot of dairy products!

We took a black cab. As there were 2 of us, it's not too expensive compared with public transport (You will have to buy an "Oyster" Card. If you're a tourist that means you have to buy one card per person, and put money "on... More
