My wife and son just returned from a vacation in London, where we had the pleasure of eating at Osteria Basilico. We did not have reservations, and when we arrived, we saw that the restaurant was absolutely packed. The manager could not have been nicer and immediately "created" a table for us. The meal was incredible from start to finish,... More

After a good visit to the Portobello Road Market, we found our way to Osteria Bascilico for an authentic meal. The setting is cozy and welcoming. The caprese was delicious and well presented. The thin pizza was hot and excellent. This is our third visit here and every encounter was commendable. We recommend this spot for an excellent meal

I've traveled all over the world. I never felt so discriminated. I'm pretty sure the young waitress speaking with an Italian accent was most likely a restaurant family member who tried to sit us all alone in the basement floor when there were clearly empty tables on the ground floor. We refused the table she recommended. I even went as... More

After an afternoon on Portabello Rd sitting in the sun listening to buskers and tasting beer 😜We were recommended this place to eat by a local. The place was busy but the waiter fitted us in and was very helpful in doing so. We ordered the Calzone and the beef ragou pasta. Both were absolutely to die for and as... More

This Italian bistro has a distinctly rustic feel which shapes a relaxed culinary experience, even when the restaurant is busy. The extensive menu offers an interesting selection. The dishes are freshly prepared, and are tasty and well presented. The wine list offers impressive value for money. Service is swift yet unhurried, and we enjoyed lingering over our desserts and coffee.

Typical Italian restaurant, small size looks family owned. Lots of choices, food was great but a bit on the expensive side i.e. no appetiser, no dessert, no wine, just 2 mains was about 40pounds.You can get better at these prices, but overall a good choice. Notting Hill is an added bonus.

Owner didn't seem to like us. Crappy service. Pizza was great and the pasta dishes as well. Probably our last visit here!

We ate here this lunchtime and as usual food was wonderful. I had the seafood linguine and there was more on my plate than I could eat, much to my husbands delight. It is very reasonably priced for the quality of food and we had 2 baskets of bread neither of which we were charged for. We will definitely come... More

I went with friends just after the new year. It's got a homely feel, the staff were very helpful. They helped choose wine to compliment the food. Great service.

The food was OK, the service was good. What is not good is their management and/or owners less than honest policy of adding a 12.5% "optional" charge on the bill and then asking if you want to pay an additional "service charge" when you make the credit card payment. This is a cynical way to try and get away with... More

Staying in Notting Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Notting Hill
As West London's friskiest corner, Notting Hill more than manages to retain plenty of the same appeal that's brought the affluent area so much worldwide attention. In this attractive cobblestoned neighbourhood, a delectable variety of eateries, independent shops, galleries and street vendors offer a delightful window into how to live the good life in London, with each presenting visitors with an experience that's a little more idiosyncratic and endearing than the last. Travelers looking to forage for antiques should be sure to visit the Portobello Road Market on Saturdays, the largest antiques market in the United Kingdom.
