When you have had a busy, dusty day in London it is always a relief to walk into a calm, clean atmosphere, you immediately relax and look forward to a good meal. I found the staff to be very helpful and professional however, the food was lacking. I was disappointed with the table, we ate early, the restaurant was fairly... More

We ate in November 2016, as a group of 6 people. The staff were friendly, fun and attentive, giving great advice about food and wine. Every member of our table had a fabulous meal. The steak tartare was definitely the best we had ever tasted. The champagne was pretty awesome too......!

If I could give 0 stars, I would. We booked weeks in advance for our table. The morning of our dinner we received a call to confirm our table. Once we arrived, we were given the most atrocious table anyone could ever be seated in. Right next to the kitchen, the kitchen's door being open and closed — staff coming... More

Two for lunch on Easter Friday, only one other table seated at 1200. We ordered a bottle of Gavi (we only drink Italian wine so happy to see this on the list) and both had Chicken alla Milanese. Service was attentive. Portion was large enough for two, very well prepared. As the noon hour continued the place filled to 75%... More

I had high expectations since the restaurant has been a staple of London for so long. We went for an early dinner, but I felt that we were being constantly hurried, had just finished an unimpressive starter (burrata salad) when my main arrived, literally less than 60 seconds between courses. The service was poor...I was made to feel as if... More

First time visitor to this British icon of a restaurant. When I arrived the place was packed and very noisy, just what I like in a lunch venue. As with many of the traditional restaurants the tables are packed in and whilst it did not ruin the experience l was apprehensive when I sat down. Lunch was good, everything well... More

I have been going to Le Caprice with varying regularity for over 30 years. No one stays in business that long in London for no reason. Le Caprice manages it because despite very minor ups and downs (like changing the Crispy Duck Salad recipe - was so much better the old way!), it manages to maintain a high standard of... More

Staying in St. James's

Neighbourhood Profile
St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.
