Reviewed yesterday NEW

first time here and the staff are very friendly welcoming and professional. The restaurant has a slight NY feel about it. Kind of old school charm but with new design and great menu. Staff take your coats and are very attentive and professional. The menu choice and selection was great. The bread sticks platter on the table was yummy. The... More

We had a lovely meal here. The only reason it's not 5 stars is because it was a little overpriced. However, the service was excellent and the food delicious.

The title is the highlight--they have one of our (Italian wine snobs) favorite wineries and wines. Dinner for two, we had carpaccio and a salad for starters, then lasagne and duck for mains. Food was good but not special. Service was excellent. One minus (often noted in restaurants) is the practice of underage Barolo/Barbaresco on the wine list. You do... More

We are honored that as self professed 'Italian wine snobs' you chose Franco's as a venue for dinner recently. We take a lot of pride in our wine list and try to offer a wide and diverse selection as possible. We acknowledge your observation that restaurants occasionally list Barolo wines that are younger than may be found in Italy or... More

Francos has an atmosphere of its own - quite unique. So let me try to set this out.. a mix between formal dining, lounge atmosphere, coffee relaxation pod, meeting room, old-time cocktails and relaxed dining. Sometimes all sliding into one another. It really depends why you chose to visit and how much time you have at your disposal. For me... More

What a pleasure it was for us to read your recent wonderful review. You managed to capture the essence of Franco’s and our desire for the restaurant to effortlessly morph from a formal breakfast to meetings, which may lead on to a formal lunch or a later more relaxed lunch, perhaps even outside on our terrace. You like many I’m... More

Franco's is still one of our favourite restaurants in london, the food, the service are exceptional and why we keep returning. we especially like the fact that you can have your deserts and coffee sat outside watching the world go buy.

It was a pleasure to read your recent review of Franco's and we're delighted that we are still one of your favorite restaurants in London. Now that the summer is almost here, outside dining is becoming increasingly popular. We can't wait to launch this years Rosé wine list which will list over 70 different Rosé wines. Where better than to... More

My partner and I came in to eat in the sunshine on Thursday. We managed to nab a table outside which catches the good weather. Having lived in central London for a long time I thought the food was very reasonably priced, especially for the area of London. We shared a beef carpaccio to start - The beef looked great... More

We very much enjoyed reading your recent review of your recent meal at Franco's. You're not the first to notice that we are deceptively larger that you initially believe with the advantage of being able to use the downstairs part of the restaurant for private dining as well as part of the restaurant ordinarily. With regard to our wine pricing,... More

My family and I recently ate at Franco's in London. We are attending a play around the corner, so we grabbed an early dinner. The restaurant is within walking distance to the Prince of Wales Theatre . Our meal was very well done. One of the best in the 2 weeks of travel. I would recommend this restaurant without question.

We made a last minute reservation for dinner and enjoyed a well prepared meal. The restaurant was busy, the staff very busy and service was highly efficient. Large menu, perhaps too large for excellence in every element. Not particularly sophisticated. A bold claim, but without doubt the best breakfast in London - consistently excellent. Ainsley and Alex on front of house are first class.

Thank you very much for your 'bold' claim but we're delighted that you think Franco's breakfast is the best in London. Of course we try out best every day so it's fantastic to read that our hard work is appreciated. I know Alex and Ainsley thoroughly enjoy looking after so many regular guests each morning. Opened in 1946 in Mayfair, Franco's restaurant has been one of London's most popular Italian establishments ever since. It continues to offer local gourmets a tranquil oasis away from the buzz of the city. Set at the St Jamess end of Jermyn Street, Franco's is fantastically located for the galleries, private clubs and hotels of the area. And the pre-theatre and afternoon tea menus are a delight. The restaurants character evolves throughout the day from the early morning breakfasts to laid-back lunches and romantic candlelit dinners in the evening. The elegant 1940s-inspired dcor is bright and modern, with light wood, off-white walls and comfy upholstered dining chairs. Franco's sumptuous Mediterranean menu has been developed by Head Chef Paulo Parlanti and showcases fresh seasonal produce in traditional and modern Italian dishes. Popular dishes include the duck breast with Castelluccio lentils; ossobucco ravioli with veal jus; and the classic tiramisu. Service is flawless and the wine list is a winner too.

Staying in St. James's

Neighbourhood Profile
St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.
