Located In the tea building, short walk from Shoreditch over ground. Minimal and modern interior with open plan kitchen. Sharing plates which was great except that portions are too small for any more than two it because unpractical to share as portions too small. Good...cocktails- had the negroni. Amazing food: Oysters with pears, grilled mussels and the eel was excellent . The pollock was unimaginable and a easy take on fish and chips. the Bavette was average beef meat and cooked well but as good as it gets for the average meat. Deserts was good- the choux pastry and the bara brith. Service was good- recommendations and interactive.More

We visited Lyle’s for dinner and there is one set menu that seems to change everyday. Perhaps we were unlucky with our menu but we were very underwhelmed by the food. The best part was the bread and butter! The rest of the dishes included...smoked eel in pigs head broth, grouse or pheasant and a few mussels in a sweet sauce with sprout heads. Very expensive for average food. The service was amazing, however. And the decor and atmosphere was great. Just the food letting the restaurant down. Wouldn’t recommend.More

Great staff, amazing and innovative food. Casual setting, extraordinary bread/butter beginning to meal. Unusual (at least to me) flavor combinations; highly recommended.

Had a great lunch here, can certainly see why it has earned a place on the top 100 restaurants list over the past few years. Would love to go back and try the tasting menu, however onto the lunch the menu is somewhat of a...sharing concept ordering 4 to 5 dishes for the table. Menu is very varied with some unique and interesting concepts and a number of new flavour experiences for me, really enjoyed it, 2 standout dishes for me been the monkfish and the coffee meringue dessert. Service also extremely good, very friendly and attentive, I want to say our waitress was called Eden and she was fantastic. Atmosphere also really good, laid back but high end at the same time if that makes sense. Will be back.More

We always eat in a Michelin Restaurant when we visit London. In general, over the years, they have been very good to excellent ( the exception being Hakkasans). We were really looking forward to Lyles, as it had a very good reputation. When visiting these...high end and usually expensive restaurants, the bar is rightly set high and the expectation is that at least once, there is an ‘mmmmm’ moment when the eating stops, eyes close to savour the moment as the flavours explode on the tongue and you think, wow, now that was unreal; I see where the star came from. With some, it happens on each course, others less often. Not during our time Lyles. Not once. It was decent food overall, but no more than that. The superb bread was the tastiest item in the whole evening. Kos lettuce featured twice. The main course was billed as cockerel, but it was just a piece of chicken, virtually unadorned, and tasted like chicken. I have had rotisserie chicken from a supermarket that had more flavour and better texture than this offering. The staff were lovely and courteous but I think it says it all that when plates were removed with food still on them, we weren’t once asked as to why, were we not happy? If they did, we would have told them, no, we weren’t.More

While my wife and I expected the food to be of a high quality, what made this an exceptional evening was the brilliant staff who attended our table. They were all fantastic, taking time to chat and offer advice on the local area. One of...the best meal experiences we have had.More

First up, TOP notch service especially from Ed and although we did not inform the restaurant early that we have a child travelling with us, they made the effort to accommodate and tried to cook something the child was willing to eat. Everything on the...degustation menu was pleasing to the palate with the exception of the cockerel which unfortunately we didn't enjoy. The restaurant was very kind to compensate us for it. All in all, a pleasant evening and that said a lot for the single fact that all of us were still jet lagged as we had just landed, so good work to the team at Lyle.More

Waiters have exceptional manners!!! we were very well taken care of. Food was great but for me the employees made it an experience. We went with husband for a date evening and they made us feel very special. My husband runs a restaurant so understands...how much skill this takes. He was very impressed too.More

Excellent food though only “good” ambience, service and drinks menu. My wife and I celebrated her birthday at Lyle’s on a Saturday night. We are both vegetarian and were very impressed by the variety and quality of the dishes. They capably catered for her no...tomato preference. Easily the best meal food-wise we have had in London for years. The rest was merely “good”. The room was nice but not particularly attractive with a table or two too many crammed in. The service was good but not stellar. The descriptions of the food were half-hearted and in a couple of cases incorrect (though we referred to the menu for the correct descriptions). The cocktail and wine list were decent but not great. Overall, the quality of the food means that we still consider this to be one of our best recent restaurant experiences in London. However, we wouldnt say it was the best in London and certainly not one of the best globally. A very solid 4-star rating.More

That it took our cab about an hour to get to Lyle´s was an inconvenience very quickly forgotten. A very friendly welcome, the plain but comfortable room, the open kitchen and the menu convinced us to have made the right choice. The staff, namely Gabrielle...- the sommeliere- and Thomas were fabulous, the food absolutely first class, and the wine menu quite exciting. Gabrielles comments to the wine pairings were convincing, all in all it was an exciting Dinner, exciting wine and a very special place. Hope to be able to come back for more !More

If I considered the food alone, this would be a 5-star review. However, I"m knocking it down for 2 reasons. First, the service. I sat next to a thoroughfare and the waitstaff bumped me every single time they passed by me. Every single time. The...thoroughfare was not narrow. There was plenty of space. I'm also not one where you need to bend over backwards with me. But when you bump someone not once, but say 15 times, you should probably give an apology or at least an acknowledgment. Not one of those 15 times did any of the servers do either. Also, the waitstaff who took my order was pleasant enough, but then completely disappeared once she took the order. Which leads me to my second point. The pacing was SO SLOW. I ordered 2 appetizers and 1 main. I had intended to order a dessert, but because the meal took too long, I ran out of time. We're talking 30+ minutes between the 2nd and 3rd course. Again, no one came to check on me. No one came to say...it'll just be a few minutes. Nothing. The food was great. The atmosphere was great (except for getting bumped every few minutes). But the service and pacing would deter me from going back.
