Eating in a restaurant in London is normally very expensive, but here you can pay a moderate price and get good fish and chips. We chose the mid size individual ration and it was very tasty, served fast, and the attention was good. The decoration is also very appropriate. Recommended place, Hope to come back again someday

Visited on our trip to Camden market. There was a 15 minute wait before we could enter. Once we entered the restaurant it was buzzing, the atmosphere was great and 50s rock and roll was playing on the Juke Box. We ordered Fish (Cod) and Chips. The fish was fresh and the batter was crispy and delicious. The chips were... More

Was sick for 24 hours after consuming the fish that was cold by the time of being served! The most unpleasant serving staff in Camden!

I am not sure if it's because I had high expectations thanks to all good reviews, but it was just an average fish and chips, nothing special, not to mention the chips which had no taste, they were unsalty and most probably frozen chips. I also found it expensive for what it is. For a regular portion of haddock or... More

Ok I don't know much about this english dish, have had 4 or 5 times in my life and one was with gordon ramsay in Vegas. So I think this one is my favorite one. Expensive (12GBP) and fries are meh but the fish was really tender and soft. Me likey.

My friend and I were very pleasantly surprised! We were greeted by a friendly member of staff, shown to our table and our order taken very quickly....it was very busy but our fish and chips did not take long to come and they were hot and delicious. Would certainly recommend anyone coming to Camden to eat here, prices were reasonable... More

Recommended by friends who live in the city, we went here with high expectations. The place is great, I thought it looks a bit like a 1950's American diner, but with fish & chips at the counter rather than burgers and milkshakes. The staff have great uniforms and are really nice. We had a mixed seafood platter to share, and... More

Went to Poppies in Camden, since their original chippy shop is all the way down in Spitafields. Hubby was craving for a proper fish and chips, and it didn't disappoint at all. He had a large portion of Fish & Chips with haddock, plus side orders of mushy peas & pickled egg. I had a dinner portion of their seafood... More

Let us take you back to the 1940s/50s London with award-winning, traditional British fish and chips.

Enjoy mouth-watering, fresh, sustainably-caught fish, cooked in crunchy batter and served with golden chips and classic mushy peas. You'll enjoy your meal surrounded by authentic 1940s/1950s memorabilia including a jukebox and Second World War posters, lovingly curated by Poppies owner Pat'Pop' Newland.

Pop has been serving fish and chips in the East End for 60 years, and, following the success of the first Poppies restaurant in Spitalfields, brings his passion for this much-loved dish to Camden.

Customers can find the same great quality food and service here, and the venue has live jazz/swing/pop/blues bands playing every Friday and Saturday at our Fish 'n' Gigs nights.

In addition to fish and chips, you can choose from other British favourites, such as pie, fish cakes, saveloy, battered sausage, and that love-it-or-hate-it East End special - jellied eels.

For those with a sweet tooth, we've included some traditional English puddings such as apple pie, Cartmell's award winning sticky toffee pudding from Cumbria and ice cream from the Minghella family business on the Isle of Wight.

To wash it all down, choose from our selection of drinks which include English cloudy apple juice, ginger beer, wine, beers and local ales.

Our take away food comes wrapped in newsprint boxes or cones, just as it was in the old days.

Reservations are not a must, but we do recommend you book in advance as it can get very busy.
