Have eaten here a few times now, the food is average, it’s pub grub at restaurant prices, great for a pint but the atmosphere here leaves a better taste than the food!More

Hi Rachel, Many thanks for your feed back, as all our food is prepared to order, using fresh, seasonal ingredients, you do have to pay a little extra for that. I would however like to know more specific details about your experiences with us. If...More

We're regular visitors to what is a gem and asset given its location. However, on Sundays it can be ran off its feet and long waiting times advised, with advertised grub suddenly not available. What ruined our most recent visit however was the attitude of...More

We popped in on a Friday evening to book for a family Sunday lunch. The place smelled very strongly of dogs and there were several large dogs around the bar area. We asked if they allowed dogs in the restaurant and we were told 'yes,...More

Hi Bob, Yes we are a dog friendly pub, but our policy is in no way liberal. Dogs must be kept on leads whist in the pub and by their owners at all times. As it was raining on Friday this would explain the strong...More

They got curly fries, some good brews on tap, bottle & can, but don't seem to know what a 'sour' is. Bartender told me that usually means they've gone bad. Yikes! Let's build up that knowledge base on what you're serving. Nice spot though on...More

Description
The Princess of Wales has been given some TLC and is now open once again — a proper good pub for the good people of Clapton. The new-look Princess of Wales combines the best of a traditional London pub with everything you’d expect from a first-rate bar or restaurant. British classics like fish & chips, seasonal pies and juicy burgers will always feature on our menus but you’ll also spot innovative, home-grown recipes that feature the best of our regional produce. On our bar, cask ales take pride of place but we’ve also made room for some top-notch craft beers. Our wines, gins, vodkas and rums follow a similar pattern: firm favourites mixed in with exciting, new flavours. Come by soon, get yourself a glass of something cold, sit by the River Lea and thank your lucky stars for unearthing the wonder that is the Princess of Wales.
