The staff were war, welcoming and prompt, the food was spectacular and the atmosphere was warm and cozy. I can't say enough about this treasure of a place!!!

We returned after a few years gap and the food, service and wine was as good as ever. Martin looked after us from start to finish with a friendly welcome thru to unobtrusive service throughout, we were never made to feel rushed. We had six...tapas between two which we found to be ample. They do some great wines by the glass which allowed us to sample a few. We finished our meal with a port tasting with chocolate which went weIl. I highly recommend Port House for great tapas, wine and service.More
Went to this restaurant Friday booked a table. All I can say is how disappointing the standard of the tapas were everything felt like it was cook from frozen the food was cold even the prawns cooked in olive oil were cold. The bread was...stale . I know tapas are small portions but these were tiny and did not reflect any other Tapas restaurants we had ever eaten in both in the UK or in Spain . We stayed for a total of 30 mins spent 85 pounds and were so hungry we got a take away after the theatre. The food can not be described as quality, we went even offered a glass of wine with our meal. Really low point was the squid again arrived cold . Pokey little table with poor service. It is my opinion this place is trading on tourists but it is not value for money . Table wasn't very clean. All in all a total disappointment way below par and not surprising the restaurant was almost empty . Don't waste your money this restaurant gives Tapas a bad name.More
Came here having looked at the reviews. Why have we never been here? Fabulous food, brilliant staff, great atmosphere and gorgeous gin cocktails. Will be back.
I have been visiting Port House for several years and I felt that they had a slight dip in quality last year. I was also seduced by Barrafina, which has a branch very close by, although it's not a fair comparison as they have very...difference price points. We visited Port House again and were lucky to get a table (for five of us) as walk-in's because the restaurant/bar was packed. Well I'm happy to say that the quality has again improved since our last visit although I sense that there's a degree of shrinkflation, judging by the portions. Still, the dishes were very tasty - my favourites being the canneloni with duck meat, the squid ink rice, the chorizo with onions. The service was very good with our bottles of water being replaced very regularly although the arrival of dishes was a little slow - like any other London restaurant - they could do with more staff.More
We visited after a previously planned reservation somewhere else was cancelled. The good reviews are well deserved as staff was friendly and attentive. Our choices from the menu were varied with meat croquettes, cured ham (5 stars), grilled squid, tempura tetila with honey. All good....We finished with a port tasting and cheese board which was a a wonderful topper.More
I normally swerve any restaurant on a busy London street like Strand, but two people independently recommended this place so we booked as it was near our hotel. The greeting was extremely friendly and the atmosphere is great, it’s not the most comfortable as the...building is extremely narrow but the food more than makes up for it. Everything we had was beautifully cooked, and generous portions for tapas. Galician mushrooms on toast, scallops, chorizo rice, all the usual tapas staples and some different dishes too. Servers were friendly and knowledgable. I was only drinking beer but there were plenty of people enjoying their wines. Definitely going again next time we’re in London.More
Great venue and gave been before but staff were very indifferent and we felt that we had become an inconvenience when asked to be served
My husband and I visited The Port House for dinner while staying at the Strand Palace. It was so good, we went back a couple days later for lunch. We tried several tapas from different sections of the menu and everything was delicious. There wasn’t...anything we wouldn’t get again.More
Absolutely delicious! Friendly staff, really attentive. Food was superb, will definitely return when back in London.
The food was immaculate, my only critique would be the small portions for the price. Everything was so tasty… to name a few the Padron peppers, duck leg, the black pudding. The bread was delicious and soft with a slight crunch. The service was great...and you could tell everything was fresh!! Highly recommend if in the area, but book ahead because it gets busy!More
Really great tapas, everything was delicious and drinks were good. Really friendly service too! Would definitely go back.
Visited here for a pre theatre dinner yesterday. Such a hidden gem of a place in a sea of other restaurants in the area. The ambiance was fantastic, the staff were attentive and welcoming and the food was out of this world. We asked how...many dishes between two, they recommended 5, we ordered 6 - after tasting each of them we could have easily ordered a few more, each one was stunning! I would recommend booking as they had a lot of walk-ins, but this only goes to show the popularity of the place I would say!More
I booked here for my husband's birthday a month late due to train strikes so was really looking forward to it. Greeted by a lovely lady who showed us to our table all going well. We then had the most miserable, abrupt waitress take our...order, snatched the menu from my husband so no time to think about what we wanted. Finally we had a lovely man and lady bring food and drinks to us both faultless. The woman still had a face like thunder for the time we were there slamming plates down on tables even other people commented on how rude she was. The food was beautiful and so tasty just felt annoyed over how this woman treated people she had long dark hair and had no customer service skills or was just having a bad night not sure but she ruined a long awaited dinner out . Read the menu online before you go then you might get time to plan what you want. Other than that we left in under an hour as my husband didn't want to stay any longer for anything else.More
