Cake Boy cafe is home of Master Patissier Eric Lanlard. A wonderful lounge situated next to the Thames, boasting tranquil outside seating and offering an array of delectable patisserie. It is here that you can enjoy Eric’s afternoon tea (with a French twist), baking classes, breakfasts, brunches and lunches as well as a large choice of wine and champagne, for that added touch of glamour.

My mum and I were staying locally for the weekend on our first trip 'out out' in months (back in October). Cake Boy felt super safe and comfortable, well spaced tables, the team were wearing masks, temperature check was required on arrival with hand sanitiser...and a guest sign-in track and trace book (in classy Cake Boy style!) - even the pen was being sanitised between use...! Everything was DELICIOUS (we had lovely lattes, a yuzu eclair but our top recommendation would be the bacon and egg croissant - don't knock it till you've tried it! YUM, and came with a beautiful dressed salad too). All this coupled with a lovely chilled cosy atmosphere, we stayed there soaking it all up for ages! Thank you to all the team for such a great experience, our feet found their way back the next day for another one of those croissants...! Hope to be back soon :)More

The pictures and Ratings on TripAdvisor led us to drive over an hour to get to Cake- boy. However we were very disappointed and we would have been better just going to local coffee shop in our own area. There was no menu so what...you see is what you get. There were very few sandwiches and what was there looked old and tired. The food sat bundled up together in a pile - vegetarian and meat all mixed up. The only salad looked like a super market bag of salad that had sat there all day and was now limp. My daughter had a cream cheese bagel and the bread was soft from an inch of cream cheese cheese sitting on it all day and it was not even toasted up. Coffee was average and the two cakes we had were so rich and the brownie so hard that we couldn't eat them. Covid restrictions were also very strict...so rather than welcoming us as customers we were immediately warned strictly of all the protocols in place including temperature check, sign in, sanitizer and not moving furniture etc. Given the traffic was bad and took us an hour and half to get home I felt our day was waisted and we were deceived by the amazing pictures. Needless to say I wont back and was not worth the trip.More

Visited with friends for a birthday afternoon tea. Food was excellent and exquisitely presented. Mr Lanlard is the perfect host, circulating and checking his clients are happy. Premises a tad tight for a wheelchair, but all staff, helped move furniture to accommodate. Plenty parking and...a lovely position beside the river. More that happy to recommendMore

Every time I’ve had a cake from here it’s been incredible. The only downside is that they don’t open on Sunday’s which seems very strange. I think it’s nice to take a cake away and sit on the river rather than eat in the cafe.
