A great experience and truly authentic Russian food. The atmosphere is unique and slightly quirky, being over the top "Russian Granny" done in good fun. Filled with mostly Russians the night I was there, which is a testament to the authenticity for the food. I would have given an Excellent rating except for the fact it is a bit too... More

My wife and I celebrated our 433rd wedding anniversary at The Mari Vanna Easter Saturday and found it a most interesting restaurant with many artefacts, pictures, newspaper cuttings and other memorabilia..all Russian of course. We both skipped the starter and went for the Salmon steak which was accompanied by a mushroom stuffed puff pastry pie with roast vegetables. Very nicely... More

Following the success of Mari Vanna in St Petersburg, Moscow and New York the owner decided to open a location in London (Knightsbridge). The location itself is already worth the visit. Kitschy objects like a typical Russian house, with bookshelves, dolls, bears, photos of Russian leaders, you will travel for one night in the old soviet union.e. The restaurant proposes... More

Pretentious, expensive, disdainful service. Probably suitable for New Russians. There is better Russian food elsewhere in London.

Every visit here has been a pleasure. This was the first time trying the set lunch menu due to the time of day we happened to visit. It was more limited but still offered some fantastic food & at very good value. As always, the staff are attentive, bringing us our bill after we'd finished promptly and topped wine up... More

The Pumpkin soup was really a surprising treat for me. Perfect for a chilly day in London. Wholesome and a perfect meal by itself. I had a taste of my daughter's dumpling (very similar to our Chinese dumpling) and again, was delicious, my tasting one piece ended with me having at least 5 pieces. Yes, the portion was generous. My... More

There were no slot available for lunch on a moment notice, and so, we decided to try the breakfast. The place looks grand, but at the same time, cosy and warm. Typical Russian fare is on offer: semolina porridge, bliny, eggs, omelettes, and Russian cheese pancakes. We opted for the omelette and cheese pancakes. The service was fast, and the... More

We were dining at Mari Vanna together for the second time - another special occasion - and we were looking for vegetarian food this time - the menu had a special vegetarian menu for lent, attached to the front of the main menu - sort of like the specials - so feeling optimistic, we ordered vegetable soup as a starter... Staying in Knightsbridge

Neighbourhood Profile
Knightsbridge
When millions of tourists want to shop 'til they drop, they do it along Brompton Road and its boutique-lined tributaries, including the world-renowned Harrods. And when millionaires want to flaunt what they've already got, many of them find Knightsbridge and Belgravia the perfect place to do so, often behind stately mansion walls or down quiet private mews. Delve beyond the ultra-luxe exterior and you'll find some of this city's cosiest pubs, quiet gardens, and all sorts of indie retailers and enterprises worth a short exercise in spontaneous window shopping. For those looking to take a break from shopping, Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, and some of the city's most popular museums are nearby.
