We were a walk-in on a Saturday night so were very glad to get a table and were instantly given water which was a nice touch. Eventually got our order in which, amongst other dishes, included Croquetas (which we were told were ham) and Gamba...More

Each time my husband watched Jose Pizarro cook on TV he commented that he'd love to try the food for real. Where better to go on a day spent in London to celebrate his next birthday! We arrived a little early and had drinks at...More

7 of us had dinner at this restaurant. It is a little unusual as it serves Tapas but also mains to share. The lamb on the bone and beef ribs were to die for and they have an extensive range of Gin and tonics with...More

We were booked into the restaurant by our daughter who lives in London as she knew of its reputation. Our table was not far from the chefs station so we could see some of the preparation taking place. Very impressive. The whole experience was enjoyable...More

Lucky to get a table in this lively atmospheric renowned restaurant. Have been disappointed with "celebrity" restaurants in the past but Pizarros exceeded our expectations. Their twist on the tapas we know and love were terrific and the service was really helpful and friendly. Good...More

Not being Londoners, we cannot eat regularly at restaurants in an area we like but had found Pizarro and eaten there twice before. We have spent a lot of time in the tapas bars and restaurants of Spain! Our first visit to Pizarro was wonderful...More

Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard,
the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond
any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some
time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved
browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street,
foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old
foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks
of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest

The full-sized restaurant is one block away from my sherry and tapas bar, José, on Bermondsey Street. At the front there is a bar, offering a great selection of sherries and Spanish wines, with a spotlight on cavas, Spanish style gin tónicas and Spanish vermút. Here, at the window seats overlooking the lovely church of St Mary Magdalen or at the long communal table or at the bar itself, you can have a drink and graze on snacks, cheese, cold cuts and special tapas all day long. At the rear is more formal restaurant seating - tables for 2 and 4, banquettes for 4-5, a large communal table for 8-10 people and a private dining room for 8-10 people. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner in the evening all day from Monday until Sunday. When the restaurant area is open, the restaurant food menu is available in both the restaurant and the bar. We offer a selection of small and more substantial dishes that can be served as starters and mains or as tapas for sharing. As usual, I want to bring you delicious food with bright new flavours - the season's best on a plate. We take reservations for lunch and dinner in the restaurant and private dining tables, but hold the bar seating back for walk-ins.
