My friend and I were walking through the Bloomsbury area trying to get to Trafalgar Square. Well we walked into a ceramics gallery that caught our eyes and the salesperson recommended this place for a rest and quick bite. She specifically said she would spend the whole day there if she wasn't working. You get to th cafe by walking... More

This is a lovely little café next to the London review book shop. We are staying in the area and popped in for a coffee and cake stop. Good strong coffee and I had the honey pistachio spelt cake which was delicious. They also had plenty of vegan options which I appreciated. Found lots of book inspiration from the book... More

This is a great place for a cup of tea and a piece of cake. The best Café near the British Museum and with the delightful surroundings of the bookshop. Good place to chill.

I love this cafe and every year when I come to London I spend some time there. Usually the service is enthusiastically directive, the tight spaces managed by the skill of the manager. Unfortunately she was on holiday when I went this time and it shows. The service was brusque and not very skilled. Despite being unusually uncrowded the staff... More

I really would have liked to have given this place full marks, as the food is adventurous and yummy! But service is really on the rude side and the tea is incredibly expensive. I'll try again though...as it really is a good place to sit, relax and enjoy good food.

Mum and I visited yesterday, after deciding the cafe in the British Museum was a little busy and wondering round nearby for something different. The London Review did not disappoint. We ended up sitting on a shared table inside (bit of a shame that it's takeaway only outside) but had amazing service. As soon as we sat down a bottle... More

We had a very tasty lunch at this cake shop on Saturday - they don't only do cakes! It was excellent - I had the quiche with kale on the side - very yummy - just the ticket for keeping me alert during the afternoon! Speaking of tickets... we inadvertently dropped a rail ticket while paying for lunch, and the... More

Food and tea were delicious, but experience marred by unceremonious slapping down of plates and removal of the soup when we were not even close to having finished - was too stunned to reclaim it! The bill then arrived, unasked for, with a brusque 'We're closing'. Paying cash, I didn't even get a thank you. I assumed from all this... More

Friendly service and fresh fare that is simply delicious. Beautiful cakes and pastries in this understated cafe. I'm still thinking about the almond cake with citrus frosting and fresh pomegranate seeds! Customers were friendly too (one of the "regulars" gave up his table to accommodate our group of 4).

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighbourhood Profile
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
