This was the place in the area, an oasis of calm and tasty food. Its now under new management with a different focus and the food and service is poor. Let's hope the management will get the message or it will change hands again. It does have a great location and has a lot of potential - under the right... More

We recently held a special birthday party here and were so pleased with the help given to us in organising the event. Everything was planned to the last detail, including decorations, etc. Nothing was too much trouble. Compared to other venues nearby, the costs were very reasonable and I would most definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a modern... More

I can only assume that since the new ownership, and name change to "Byward Kitchen and Bar" the quality has been lost in transition. Small portions, poor wholesaler sourced, fatty and comparatively expensive given the cheap ingredients. My poached eggs were tasteless and pale. The hash brown was fatty and generic. The sausage was small and tasteless. The one bacon... More

after a long day of walking, we stumbled across this place before heading into the Tower. And boy were we glad we did. It was a little overpriced, but the best fish and chips I had in London. Definitely worth it!

Surprised to find this little place tucked next to a church near the tower of London. The cafe was modern, staff were friendly. We didn't eat there but the food looked nice and was a standard London price. We ordered tea for four. We received two teapots filled with water and two tea bags. These teapots filled everyone's cup once... More

Seems like this place has changed ownership. The design and menu are different than many of the pictures online but the space is still beautiful. It's attached to the oldest church in London which is super cool and free to visit. Go downstairs to the crypt museum! John Quincy Adams got married there. Anyway, had the vegetarian breakfast and the... More

Was one of my favourite hidden oasis. Kitchen @ Tower Hill, what a massive disappointment it has changed hands. We went in to have a late lunch to found to our horror that none of the regular staff To be completely honest my salad was like a starter very small. We asked for the bill and was surprise that the... More

Stopped here for breakfast before visiting the Tower of London, the staff couldn't really be bothered, one girl spent much of her time on her phone whilst making coffee, no menus provided to let us know what was available. I wouldn't bother again which is a real shame as it looks on the outside very nice.

We chanced upon this place, it was the least crowded, but very pleasant if not a little prices for what we had.

I came here to have the full english breakfast and cappuccino through a recommendation of a friend. I have to say that it's all worth it, getting lost and walking around the area only to find a hidden lovely restaurant near the Tower Hill.

Staying in City of London

Neighbourhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
