My friend bought me this present for my 50th We sat in a cosy corner with another couple & Jaz, best, knowledgable, many stories, barman I've met, took us through the gin journey with stories & tasting. Lovely nuts & olive nibbles & great gin in a cosy underground bar with great atmosphere. Had the best time & would love... More

A small group of us went to the Whistling Shop on Friday night and it was the first day of the bar's new menu. The menu is based around geographical specialities and was really interesting, we enjoyed choosing our drinks that way! Most of the cocktails were really decent, out of the 11 that we tried only 3 were duds... More

I really loved the decor and vibe - speakeasy, relaxed, easy-listening soundtrack, a happy mixed-bag clientele. My only gripe is the table service was a little slack, you shouldn't be left thirsty in a bar (especially a bar that enforces a time limit on your stay). There was one guy that shone - he knew the menu back to front... More

Spacious with cool decor and good drinks. Old Fashioneds are always good here, but, for me, the bets part is that it's not a cramped bar and has plenty of space with tables.

The cocktails are like nothing you've ever had before! The staff are so knowledgeable and friendly, the bar is beautiful and it's so seductive, you could stay there all night! Go! You won't regret it!

The Whistling Shop provides a unique slant on a themed bar. The cocktails were absolutely fantastic and with all of them comprising of ingredients which could certainly not be obtained without considerable effort, they were greatly savoured. the victorian theme permeates throughout the menu as much as the decor and it makes for a very good experience. Overall I would... More

We visited early Friday evening and managed to escape the after work crowds. Well made drinks and friendly service. Would definitely go back.

We popped in here for a drink before going out for dinner in the area. While the venue has a great feel about it and plenty of character, the waiting staff could do with spending a little less time chatting by the bar and little more time getting on with their job! I'd go back because I like the setting... More

Neighbourhood Profile
The western front of the edgy East End, Shoreditch is a perennially trendy haven for anything “street” – be it art, food, or fashion. With its handful of well connected transportation links dotting its perimeter, along with an ever increasing variety of shops, hotels, bars, and restaurants, it's easy to explore this trend-conscious and youth-oriented neighbourhood. There's a lingering post-industrial grit about Shoreditch, but because it shares a border with “The City” financial district, the influence from its upscale neighbour can result in fascinating outcomes.
