The good: nice ambience, friendly staff. Food was not bad. The bad massively expensive, food was only ok. When I go out and pay close to £100 per head I expect the food to be beyond what I can make at home and I didn’t...feel that was the case. It was nice and that’s it. Not great, wow or fantastic. No fault of the staff who were lovely.More

Visited here for Sunday roast last weekend. All of us agreed it was the best roast dinner we had ever eaten. I would eat here every Sunday if I could. Superb friendly and attentive service and amazing food.

Not cheap but great quality food. Rib Eye & Fillet Steaks were our choice with sides of chips, buttered potatoes & creamed spinach. Didn’t miss the sauce as steaks had loads of flavour. Too full for a dessert. Lovely touch, as it was our anniversary,...chocolate caramels with congratulations on a plate. Service was excellent. Our server was friendly, funny and very smiley which was lovely - thank youMore

A return visit for us after pandemic restrictions. And we weren't disappointed! Great cocktails started the evening off then the main event. We decided to just have big steaks and a selection of delicious Hawksmoor sides. One had fillet and one a slab of prime...rib and sharing creamed spinach, mushrooms and Jersey royals with bernnaise and anchovy hollandaise. The fillet was succulent and delicious and the prime rib was beautifully tasty if a little chewy. Sides were gorgeous particularly the spinach. Everything washed down with excellent rioja. Not a cheap night but we can't wait to do it again. But next time I'll have the ribeye.More

Went to this place with my partner and a friend to celebrate her graduation on a Thusday evening. What struck us right away was that the room was throbbingly, headache-inducingly loud, LOUD, LOUD!, making polite conversation impossible. I have been to other restaurants that have...been full, but all managed to keep noise levels well below of what we were experiencing here. Indeed, I started losing my voice in the middle of the dinner from trying to yell through what I could describe as pub noise at a Wetherspoons during happy hours. The waiter was more overbearing than friendly. I asked for a medium rare steak with a 'nice sear'. He did not understand the word. 'You mean charred?' Now, there is a marked difference between a 'sear', where the outside layer of the meat turns golden brown and gets caramelised lightly for sweetness; and 'charred', where the meat just dries out and turns bitter and black from coal, ruining the meat. The personell at an expensive steak restaurant could be expected to know the difference. Not here, though. 'Seared' I said, and showed the waiter the word so that there can be no misunderstanding. Being a foreign speaker, I understand how difficult it can be to navigate the thousands of accents of a world language, so I try my best to be accommodating and clear. The waiter nodded, then read back our order as 'rump steak, medium rare, CHARRED'. I left it to him, after all, a steak restaurant in the middle of London should know what they are doing, shouldn't they? In hindsight, this was my last warning. The steak that was served was dry on the outside, bitterly burned, yet tasteless. It was also surprisingly thick, 6 cm or more, which is a bit over the top - I think 4 cm is the maximum - but whatever, at this point that was a minor inconvenience. Our seating in the middle of the room was so dark that, honestly, I could not make out the details of my food and maybe that was for the better. My fellow diners were enjoying their meat, and the sides were indeed good, so I did my best to not ruin the evening with complaining and chewed away on the ruined steak. Stiff upper lips, innit. We paid, left, and were treated to the joys of listening to the ringing in our ears outside. And right there, I swore to myself to NEVER, EVER AGAIN SET FOOT IN THIS LAUGHABLE EXCUSE OF A DINING ESTABLISHMENT.More

I am ( was) a regular at Hawksmoor, as well 7Dials. This is most definitely over after this experience. Service was completely subpar, Sommelier ( glorified waiter) had no clue, brought twice the wrong bottle.I ordered my 1 kg Inbone uncut and it came cut,...sides came 10' after mains. The meat was poorly grilled, no crust, greyish inside. My ask for " fleur de sel" couldn't be met.... The overi oll noise was deafening, impossible to discuss for our party of 4. On the top there was an error of 200GBP on our 1000 GBP bill...needless to say that I won't be back.More

The worst Sunday roast I've ever had. Burnt Yorkshire pudding, horrible and not enough vegetables, nearly impossible to cut beef and the little bit I was able to cut was awfully chewy. They didn't have the wine I ordered which is fine, but at least...they could have told me when I ordered, not when they came back much later with the other drinks. In general the service was ok, except one of the waiters which was trying to be funny, but actually just sounded patronising. The 2 stars are just for the dessert, the apple crumble, which was nice. I will definitely not go back, but I'm sure they won't miss me: I guess it's one of those places that are always full at weekends no matter what because of the location.More

I wouldn’t go back Unfortunately I felt as though it was extremely overpriced for what you received, could not order a red wine by the glass (I wanted 250ml glass(As was attending a show after but could only get a 500ml serving, again silly prices....we was told the size steak we wanted was not available in what we ordered only from 800g, priced at 14.40 per 100g so we ordered another instead, only the table beside then ordered the same around 20 mins after and it was available? Available by another waiter, Portion size on the sides were pretty poor, I do not recommend the mushrooms or buttered veg. Embarrassing portions. Gaucho was much better experience. Very disappointed with todays visit. First class steak, but poor service. Why do the waiting staff at Hawksmoor keep clearing the table when people are still eating. Surely they can't of run out of crockery. Its happened before at CG and also London Bridge. One...waitress even stood waiting for my daughter to finish. Will return to Gaucho from now on, far better service. Also, the sticky Toffee pudding was luke warm. Clearly didn't microwave long enough!More

Whenever we are in the UK we like to fit in a Sunday Roast meal. Hawskmoor Seven Dials offers one of the best. Nestled on a side street the entrance is very unassuming. When you arrive you are warmly greeted and then escorted downstairs to...your table. You pass an elegant bar that opens onto the large, beautiful dining area. Open and airy the space is bright and bustling. You'll be given a cocktail menu that has all the current offerings and of the ones we ordered nearly all hit the mark perfectly. I was a little disappointed with the Fuller-Fat Old Fashioned which based on the description I was hoping for more of a buttery twist on the drink. It' really didn't deliver on that. But we really came for the roast, and that was spot on. When you do order your roast I suggest you don't ask for it well done. Doing so really takes away so much of the juicy flavor of the beef. You might want to ask for extra gravy since we always seem to be just a tad short. The roast come out with crispy edges and a beautiful pinkish center. We found the vegetables to be particularly good and the potato's and Yorkshire pudding were perfectly cooked. For dessert we had a sticky toffee sundae with clotted cream ice cream and what's not to like in that. Overall a great Sunday meal. Be sure to make reservations as they tend to book up in advance.More
