This restaurant is in the heart of Chelsea, 5 mins walk from Sloane Square station and occupies several levels in a townhouse. It’s not flock wallpaper although more Indian artefacts would not go amiss. That said, the choice of food, the ingenuity of flavours, the...standard and quality of the meal and the excellent service are second to none. Terrific selection of intriguing cocktails. Good vibes. I’m no stranger to food from the Indian subcontinent and have consumed street food to high end meals so I can say, somewhat immodestly, that I’m able to judge Indian style food. Portions were well sized and it would behove diners to order a variety of starters and mains for all to share. A really interesting and delightful supper was enjoyed and after consuming mouthwatering desserts, we left replete. A return visit is definitely on the cards.More

I visited the restaurant for my mother’s birthday, the food was expensive and overpriced. The waiter looked down at us and was very patronising. Not worth the visitMore

We were a party of 4 and visited on a Friday for dinner service. Having built in some buffer time so as not to be late for our reservation we actually arrived about 20 minutes early. Not a problem. We were promptly seated at our...table. The restaurant was fairly quiet at this time and the staff were very attentive. We were given some recommendations for cocktails and went with those. All the cocktails were winners and went down very well whilst we waited for our starters. We chose to go for 6 starters. The lamb, chicken, salmon, dhokla, quail naan and tiger prawns. Again these did not disappoint with everything cooked, seasoned and spiced just right. The tiger prawns in particular were outstanding. For the mains, we are usually loathed to go for the chicken tikka masala at any Indian joint, but on this occasion, we weren't feeling particularly adventurous and decided against trying the venison or the guinea fowl. To our surprise the tikka masala too had a unique flavour with a tangy kick and all of us absolutely loved it. Additionally, we went for the truffle pulao and lamb rogan josh (substitute for the lamb shank which wasn't available on the day). Again the subtle flavours of the pulao were amazing and the rogan josh which many other places get wrong was cooked just right. By this time we were pretty full but couldn't resist getting 4 desserts to share. The Cassata and the Chocolate dessert were our favourites. Its important to point out that by late evening the place was full, but we still received the same amount of attention and care from the service staff. (Wish we had gotten their names). To top of an already great evening, we were lucky enough to meet the head chef Mr. Rohit Ghai. He was kind enough to spend a good 10 minutes with us talking about his background and all his ongoing projects (new openings, books etc.). His next eatery, Manthan is due to open in Mayfair in the coming weeks. So on to Manthan it is then!!!More

This is an amazing gem of an Indian restaurant on a side street in london. The dishes I mentioned have other names but essentially that’s what they are. But…. perfectly seasoned sauces, incredible flavors. Truly some of the best Indian I have ever enjoyed. And...staff were so professional and friendly. We had a big lunch so weren’t very hungry. We shared dishes and there was no problem. I will definitely return.More

I had booked non-veg and veg signature expeditions for my boyfriend's 38th and must say, I am beyond thrilled by the staff's hospitality, the ambience, the classy decor and significantly, the delightful spread. Also loved the chef's special dessert (a version of brownie) beside the...desserts already included in the set menu. The portions as I had imagined would be more than sufficient for the two of us and we went for champagne (by the glass) instead of the optional wine pairing suggested on the menu. Overall, a Sunday and a bday well spent :) PS: Tripadvisor limits uploading photos of certain size. You can find my photos on Google/OpenTable.More

We had such a delicious, special anniversary meal here. The tasting menu did not disappoint and the salmon and soft shell crab in particular were amongst the best things I’ve ever tasted. We felt this was really reasonably priced for the quality and service provided....Thank Kutir, we will be back!More

This is a place we will return to. The Georgian house is elegant and the wall paper would make Carrie Symmonds-Johnson envious. Exquisite decor, perfect service from staff who are clearly professional and able to interact with customers in exactly the right way. Every bite...of this meal was a delight.More

This is a very special place, its so so so unusual, you walk in, its opulent but welcoming, its spotless but warm and cozy, then you get to the little roof top garden! how perfect! But... I came for the food, or more to the...point I was brought here for my birthday, I was not expecting it what came next. Brilliant cocktails, just lovely, pretty, elegant and so refreshing. Papadums were amazing, the sauces, well it's my birthday and I spooned the contents of one directly into my mouth! It was Devine. Then starters.... well... unusual dishes like a masala quails egg omelette on a nan bread with truffles and pea shoots (that actually added something to the dish). I could have eaten that for lunch every day. There was a small fight between who would have the last mouthful, but birthday boy rules wone out. The starters were so pretty as had everything been thus far. What came next was a shock then I got it. It was curry.... in dishes, a little flourish of art on a plate, but nothing like before, why? Then penny dropped, what was there was only what was needed, it was honest, authentic, the flavours astounding. I had venison curry just wonderful. My partner a lam shank, she squealed with delight as she touched the shank and the meat slid off the bone into a mass of soft warm soothing meat. The puddings were elegant, unfussy and tasty a perfect end to the meal. We were having so much fun that and tasting all the delights we forgot to order any wine!!!! Its that good! I saw a Chicken Tikka Masala on the menu and did a calculation and worked out that you could have a "proper british curry and a beer" for about 30 quid. At this level and where this place is in the middle of Chelsea you could for the price of the food say this was the local curry house, the food is so damn honest, but spectacular at the same time. I'm already planning my return trip, but I expect by then they will have one of those little stars on the door!More
