The superlatives about the Pig and Goose offered by others are spot on. We ate the two course lunch and could not have been happier with the food, wine and service. The cauliflower gnocchi was the clear winner for a main course. Gnocchi is often a lowly potato dumpling. Here it is elevated to the level of haute cuisine. The... More

Ate here with friends on a Thursday evening have previously reserved a table. The menu is quite short but don't let that put you off. I kicked-off with the tuna tartare which was delightful fresh and well seasoned. I then moved on to the ox cheek which was incredibly tender and required neither cutting nor chewing. I finished with the... More

We recently stopped by here without a reservation and with two children in our company, 10 and 8 yrs. The staff couldn't have been more wonderful and accommodating. They were extremely pleasant and went out of their way to make our evening thoroughly enjoyable. The food was delicious. A special word of thanks to Debra who made our children very... More

Whilst in London we decided to pop into the George for a drink. Great choice of beers and a warm welcoming atmosphere. Well worth a visit, if ur nearby

We booked the Pig and Goose restaurant as a lunch venue after a tour of Legal London for a perceptive group from an American university. We arrived early, but the welcome could not have been warmer and the food was outstanding in its originality and memorable for its blend of wonderful flavours and textures. (The lemon posset dessert alone deserves... More

We have been here twice. The George is a really beautiful pub and has a lovely atmosphere. The sunday roast was delicious and they have a good choice of drinks. The staff was always very friendly and attentive. Highly recommended.

Called in here after a totally underwhelming visit to a neighbouring pub, thankfully The George does serve Sunday roasts until a sensible time ! Very friendly service and nice relaxed atmosphere gives the place quite an upmarket feel. Nice food, not cheap, but it is central London after all ! Recommended.

We came here after touring the Inns of Court. We made the choice to eat upstairs at The Pig & Goose restaurant (you can also eat at the pub downstairs). We were very happy with our choice. Craig was most helpful and informative when we were selecting our meals (and he had excellent suggestions on pairing the hand-pulled cask ale... More

Exceptional service and good food. Just lacking that extra twist to the food for a perfect dinner. Still the environment and service makes it a five.

This is an excellent restaurant. I took my daughter for a post theatre meal and we both left very pleased with the quality of the service, the subtle and tasty food, good wine, and a comfortable atmosphere. I highly recommend this restaurant if you want a mid-priced quality meal.

Description
The George underwent an extensive and considerate refurbishment of the ground floor bar and first floor dining room. This saw the creation of an elegant and sophisticated restaurant; The Pig and Goose and a private dining room.

The stunning Pig & Goose restaurant, lounge bar and oak panelled private dining room is on the first floor of The George, where we serve classic British food for both lunch and dinner daily, with a 90 bin wine list that focuses on Old World classics, however, also showcases the very best in New World wines. We have a cheese trolley featuring 7 British cheeses to pair with our large range of ports, whiskies and brandies. The Pig and Goose is open to seated drinkers and diners daily.

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighbourhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
