Have eaten here a few times recently. The food is good British dishes with an excellent choice and a daily special. The pies are excellent! Service is mixed but usually ok. The Mercer is a must for breakfast. It is excellent.

As the title suggests the food is average to good not wow however it is quite pricey for what you get. Considering some the options near by, this wouldn't be my first choice but is a decent choice.

Came for for business lunch. We went straight for mains and intended to have a desert. The food was good but we asked three times for "same again drinks" and they never arrived. For desert I chose sorbet but only wanted one of the three flavours. I thought I'd get three scoops all of one flavour instead of three scoops... More

What a nice meeting point prior to the start of your workday! The egg on toast is phenomenal: absolutely delicious!!! Large selection of coffees and teas available. Went at night to grab a dessert. Again delicious selection of desserts, had a port that was recommended by the staff that perfectly completed the dessert. Great staff, great place, great atmosphere: you... More

Great venue. Upstairs is very interesting where it sits amongst surrounding builds. Makes one feel other-worldly. Fabulous venue. Food was very very nice, great wines and service amazing.

Popped in with a client this morning and what a lovely breakfast and pleasant staff. Would fully recommend as an ideal business meeting place... Certainly beats the likes of big high street chains and is bit of a treat for your clients.

I have been lucky enough to have a few business lunches here over the last couple of years and the fact that I keep going back probably says it all!! It is a very nice place in The City to dine. The staff are friendly and attentive and the food is plentiful and wholesome. Lots of good hearty dishes -... More

My second visit to this excellent restaurant for earl morning breakfast meeting. Just down from Bank of England and in hart of city near Bank station. Good bright service and varied hot breakfast freshly cooked including fish dishes. Reasonably priced as is lunch though so many bottles off water on tables not like old days. And 4 hour lunches!!!!!

I had a couple of breakfasts here and absolutely loved the omelette. As for lunch, this was my first time and I would probably go back but not soon. Cauliflower & cep soup was nice, cod a bit smelly, cheesecake was a big disappointment... it actually didn't taste like cheesecake at all (not sure if there was any cheese used... More

Staying in City of London

Neighbourhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
