We came here for an early dinner. The food was excellent, fresh, tasty and good value. The wines were also very good. We had a Chenin Blanc, which was good and well priced. We ended with a cheese board (their selection is fantastic) and a glass of Tokaji. Perfect. The service was seamless and the staff very friendly. I recommend... More

I took my boyfriend here for his birthday, mainly due to their cheese and wine reputation, and was not disappointed. The starters were excellent, dare I say better than our open sandwich main. I had the special which was beautifully flavoured fish cakes with a delicate sauce and perfectly cooked asparagus. The star of the night was the excellent cheeseboard... More

I just went to a £20 'Alpine cheese' tasting event at Vivat London. Vivat is a quiet, very chilled out post work bar/restaurant with good looking steaks. Unfortunately the cheese tasting is a bit of a rip off. It was interesting to hear a bit about the cheesemaking process but the samples were small. The matched wines were no more... More

I came here for dinner on Saturday night with friends and had a marvelous time. I came across this restaurant by chance when searching online for restaurants around london bridge...I am so glad I did! The food was great and of decent portions. The wine was paired nicely and staff friendly. The best part was the live jazz which topped... More

I ate here with family and despite the food being good and the cheese room experience being excellent, the overall experience was ruined by the pushy and inattentive staff that would make me avoid the venue for dinner again. Let's start with the positives - food, wine and cheese were all good. The cheese room experience is particularly unique and... More

Having heard about this restaurant for its cheese, I was a little concerned about going here for our work Christmas dinner. However, lots of other options to choose from. Wine was lovely as was the steak sandwich and the sticky toffee pudding. Would recommend, especially cheese and wine lovers. There is a cheese room where you can select your cheeses... More

We were a family group of 4 and chose this restaurant for it's location and recommendations. We were not disappointed, their red wine was superb and the ostrich steak was so tasty. I would recommend you have it medium as the meat is so tasty it does not need to be over cooked. Great place just s shame we couldn't... More

I can't say enough great things! We didn't have a reservation but they accommodated my husband and I :). The staff and service was 5 star, so helpful and attentive. We were guided to some amazing wine choices and spent time in their cheese room tasting! Such a fun and unforgettable evening!

An amazing evening at Vivat Bacchus, the Jazz band were playing again which was a perfect touch. The steak was one of the best I have had followed by a masterpiece of a dessert. The restaurant is fancy yet relaxed and I would say suitable for any occasion. Will certainly be back again!

Staying in Southwark

Neighbourhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighbourhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
