We had a meal in here and it was very nice. The lasagne was delicious! The table was a bit sticky...it is very oldy worldy downstairs and gives a traditional atmosphere.

we loved having fish and chips there, it was a bit pricey, but it was totally worthy, also funny as our server turned out to be portuguese, so we even asked for tips in portuguese. Nice vibe,

Upstairs to the The Punch and Judy bar and balcony which overlooks the square and performers dazzle with their art whilst you consume alcohol and watch. Very busy, very vibrant and difficult to get a seat sometimes but a great place to while away an...More

I've reviews before when I said "Great venue, especially on a good day when the balcony gives you a great view of the street performers. Alas there are never enough bar staff on duty for service" On this occasion, an evening, we met friends downstairs....More

We stopped here for lunch during a day of sightseeing. There are many options at Covent Garden and honestly we chose this because of the open patio. The patio seating is great and we were pleasantly surprised that the food was as well. We enjoyed...More

We went into this pub late afternoon during our second visit to Covent Garden. Finding a table in the outdoor covered market area was easy, and the tables are decently comfortable, if a little worn. The service at the bar was fast, easy, and the...More

I don't quite understand the criticism. If you want a gourmet dinner, go elsewhere (P & J serves lovely English pub food if you like that sort of thing). Punch & Judy is one of the best pubs in London.

The Punch & Judy is a world famous pub landmark in its own right and is thought to be named after the puppet show performances that took place in the nearby piazza for the children of flower-sellers. Built in 1787, this listed building retains much of the original brick and stonework. It's known as being one of the very few buildings in the area that escaped bomb damage during the blitz. The pub is located facing the west piazza and from this balcony our guests have the best view to watch the street performers. It is clear why a pub in London’s Covent Garden Piazza bears this name, for it was here in May 1662 that Samuel Pepys came to see the performance of an Italian puppet play. This is the first record of a ‘Punch’ show in England and would have been a novelty at the time. The Punch & Judy serves fantastic British cask ales, selected wines and premium spirits as well as traditional British pub food such as fish & chips and steak & ale pie. The team look forward to your visit!
