Would not recommend this place. Staff were good and nice ambience. But my minestrone was awful and pizza was worse than you would buy in a supermarket. In fairness, my son like his pollo Milanese but I will not be returning.

After a long journey we were very hungry. Popped in for a pre show lunch, we ordered the garlic bread, bolognaise and salmon with potatoes and vegetables. We found the service good, food nice and very reasonably priced. Im no expert on traditional authentic Italian food, but what I do know is the menu had plenty of variety and delivered... More

I always give bottom line first so those who dont want to dont have to trawl through dialogue. Tasty. polite, good prompt service, reasonable cost We were on a tight schedule for a lunch before theatre, always like the little independent italian restaurants above chains. We were seated quickly, plenty of room, extensive reasonable menu, not hustled but staff attentive. Disapointment... More

Please, just don´t call this TERRIBLE RESTAURANT as ITALIAN and also, don´t call “risotto” as the dish they serve, just rice and tomato souce. We had the worst experience at this place. We ordered 03 risottos ( 1 prawn + 2 funghi), seriously was the worst gastronomic experience we have had in our lives. Also, I sent 02 emails to... More

This is definitely not an Italian Restaurant as it shows outside, all the plates we had were without taste and we had to wait a long time to be served, I definetly wouldn't recommend this restaurant and I wouldn't go back.

We went here before going to see a show. The place was packed when we arrived with lots of pre-theatre customers like us. The tables are packed so closely together you feel like you are sitting with ur neighbours. The service was good, well our particular waiter was nice and friendly despite being super busy. The food when it arrived... More

This place is really pleasant, and the food is tasty. We ate lasagnas and pizza, which were both really good and fast served. For dessert, we had a tiramisu and a creme caramel, also really good and homemade. The team is very nice (Hi Daniel !! Send me another message please :) !), good luck !

I have never dealt with racism before coming to this restaurant. A bunch of us were out for a friends birthday. The gentleman who was serving us from the get go seemed to be off with us. The two racist remarks he made to us was firstly when he gave me the bill he said ask me to get someone... More

Popped in here as it was right by the dominion theatre where we were going to watch a show and we wanted to avoid a "chain" restaurant and go to somewhere run independently. The place looks nice and authentic but the food is basic at best and the carbonara was tasteless. Overall the service was okay, service charge added to... More

Booked this restaurant after researching on trip advisor. On arrival 5.30 place was heaving and people waiting outside for tables. Ordered variety of starters which were excellent. Thought we would be in for a long wait but very good service. Main meals , spag Bol, steak, pizza all great. Only down side to this restaurant is the tables are squashed... More

An Italian restaurant out of the ordinary, Melanies specialises in Neapolitan food, setting it apart from the numerous other dining rooms in Londons central Soho area. Located on the notorious Old Compton Street, close to Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Square and the numerous theatres and cinemas the West End has to offer, Melanies is easy to spot thanks to its large awning proudly displaying the red, green and white of the Italian flag. Inside, youll find a dining room clad in much light wood and full of light, traditional, simple and comfortable in its dcor. In the kitchen, the focus is very much on the use of good ingredients, the chefs sourcing local and seasonal produce for their classic Neapolitan dishes. Youll recognise many of Melanies offerings, from favourite pizzas to well known pasta dishes, but youll also be tempted to try the specialties of the house which include the typical ingredients of Naples and the surrounding countryside and have roots in the Greco-Roman period.

Staying in Soho

Neighbourhood Profile
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighbourhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.
